A sad day for the Bryn Y Garreg Longtails Flock on Easter Monday early morning.

Patch one of our lovely ewes tried to give birth to twins. However, it soon became clear that there was a problem as the birth was not progressing. The ewe was baaing a lot after we physically checked her labouring at 3.30am insinuating something was wrong. As she had laboured for some time without progression, we took the ewe into the vet without delay. Turns out the ewe had a twisted uterus so the lambs could not exit the usual way, hence the uterus had not been able to open and a ceasarean was neccessary to save the day.

Sadly, we lost the boy (Aston)🥲😞😔.
Amber the ewe lamb did hang on in there for us - only just! She was stressed and weak and things weren’t looking to good😟. Luckily after 12 hours the tables turned and Easter Monday started to look a lot brighter! Today Amber is looking good and doing well! ❤🐑❤

It's always sad to loose a lamb, but even more profound is the sadness of the lamb having lost her brother. Multiple birth lambs form close bonds with each other during their development in the womb. They are often lost without their siblings if one or more of them die and this can have long term effects on their development and emotional wellbeing. 😒 Let's keep our fingers crossed for Amber. ❤

Mum got through the ordeal ok, but unfortunately won't be able to give birth again as the risk of further complication to mother and future lambs is too high. 😞❤😔

HORSE AND SHEEP PICNIC today here at 🐴🐑🐴🐑 LAKE VYRNWY ANIMALS & CRAFTS - 💓THE WIRELESS-FREE FARM💓

Think Wellbeing, think Nature, think Harmony

We have an Indoor (overlooking all our free ranging animals) or outdoor picinic space, where you can see the horses go by and the sheep roaming in the field whilst you eat! All the kids had fun running around in our Di**le area whilst getting busy looking after the environment with a stick pick run and an open fire to burn the sticks! Enjoy supervised natural interaction with our ponies & horses as well as sheep.

IT'S LAMBING TIME - COME AND SEE THE LITTLE LAMBS FULL WITH THE JOYS OF SPRING!

Tickets for Horse & Sheep picnics are £18 for adults and £10 for children. Bring your own picnic.
