With heavy heart and tear-filled eyes, I share with you that Gaia crossed the rainbow bridge the afternoon of Wednesday, October 30th at 16 years, 3 months and 1 day.

One….Amazing…..Dog

The picture in this posting was taken the morning of the 30th when she was in high spirits, eagerly awaiting more special treats. Her back legs completely failed her the night before. I ran to Costco that evening and bought a bag of frozen hamburgers before putting plans into place for a vet to come to my home the next afternoon. I think I fed her half the bag in her last 18 hours of life. She was happy.

I could write a book in a tribute to Gaia. Instead, hours of staring at the computer screen today have not spilled out any words onto digital paper so I will just post it as is….except to share:

Gaia was named after Gaia, the Greek Goddess of Mother Earth. She was a gift from my father. I had her cremated through a water process. I am now in possession of her liquid remains which will fertilize the trees, grass and flowers where she used to chase balls and block Wilson.

Thank you to my friends and family who helped me through this process, both over the past few months as well as the last few hours. ❤️

G Minus 0: Gaia is 15 ½ today. It’s funny that we count age in half years and months when a being is young…and then again as they encroach upon life expectancy.

FIFTEEN!!! Happy 15th Birthday my dear Gaia! We had a beautiful walk this morning at a new destination. I treasure each and every day.
