I really enjoyed this year’s “Mustang Heritage Spectacular” held in Lexington, Kentucky. It was three days of incredible competitions for trainers to show off the talent of their mustangs. Not to mention, many demonstrations, vendors and speakers all focused on horses. Lots of people went home with a new mustang of their own. Adopting a wild horse of course isn’t for everyone. However some people miss out on owning these horses simply because they aren’t capable of training them on their own. I would go as far as to argue that adopting these horses directly from the BLM and other agencies (unhandled) isn’t the best way for the average horse owner to get them. This picture represents something most horse people don’t think about. On the Year of the Mustang journey I wasn’t just a lot of people’s first experience with wild horses. Mine were some people’s first experience with horses in general. There are lots of places in the U.S. today where horses are not common place. To the point that some people have never even seen them outside of movies and social media. For me it’s just another reason to do what I do. Sharing my journey and lifestyle with everyone I can.
