Tucson Cold Wet Noses is a 501c3 non-profit dog rescue and adoption organization. We were founded by a group of local dog lovers whose goal is to rescue dogs from the local shelters (PACC, MCACC, PCACC and The Arizona Humane Society) and find them their perfect homes through successful adoptions. As many of you know, Tucson Cold Wet Noses rescues the seniors, the dogs with medical needs and the ho

spice cases. We rely on generous donations throughout the year to keep our medical fund going. We commit to caring for these dogs to the best of our ability, no matter what. About 75% of our fosters are now hospice dogs who will be with us forever.

This Arizona Gives Day, we invite you to join us in our mission at Tucson Cold Wet Noses by making a heartfelt donation that will transform the lives of vulnerable dogs in our care.

As we proudly celebrate our 20th anniversary, we remain steadfastly committed to rescuing senior dogs, those with medical needs, and hospice dogs who have faced abandonment for heartbreaking reasons. Each dog that comes into our loving arms receives dedicated, ongoing medical care, including vital surgeries, medications, specialized diets, and supplements designed to enhance their quality of life and bring joy to their days.

Over the past two decades, we have rescued over 3,700 dogs, and our focus has increasingly shifted towards providing hospice and long-term care, ensuring that the majority of our beloved dogs find solace and comfort in their foster homes. We have very few adoptable dogs, but every contribution you make is essential to sustaining this loving environment where these deserving dogs can thrive.
Together, let’s continue to create a compassionate community that makes a lasting difference in the lives of these precious souls through your kindness and generosity.

Today is the day to invest in Arizona non-profits!
After Arizona Gives Day is over, we will continue to do what we have done for 20 years: rescue dogs!

This year, will be the same: rescue the seniors, the dogs with medical needs and the hospice cases.

Once rescued, the dogs are housed with approved foster families in the Tucson area and live with them as if they were their own. At any given time, there are approximately 100 dogs in the care of Tucson Cold Wet Noses. Happily, some fostered dogs ultimately become healthy enough to be adopted by a Tucson area family. But, sadly, most of the dogs rescued by Tucson Cold Wet Noses enter into hospice care with foster parents who will lovingly care for them until it is time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

In addition to general age-related issues like vision problems, bad teeth, and arthritis, some foster dogs are lovingly treated for conditions like diabetes, epilepsy, heart problems, Valley Fever, Cushings Disease, spinal injuries, cancer, and more. Because of the vulnerable dog population we serve, Tucson Cold Wet Noses incurs medical expenses much higher than many other rescues.
Tucson Cold Wet Noses relies on generous donations to help keep all fostered dogs fed and vetted.

🐾 Meet Penny, Phoebe, Zella, Jazzmin and Snickers 🐾

All of these amazing dogs have three things in common. They are all diabetic, blind and considered hospice in Tucson Cold Wet Noses. Zella and Snickers are also on multiple heart medications.

Diabetes can be a scary word to hear at the vet, but it shouldn't be. It is not curable, but it's pretty easy to maintain when they are regulated. Sometimes dogs lose weight rapidly and pet parents don't know what to do. All it takes is a simple check of their glucose, you can have an in-house blood panel run. It will show.
Diabetic dogs will never go back to being non-diabetic. They will always need insulin. Diet will not help them as it does in people, but their diet does need to be watched. Diabetics will be prone to pancreatitis, heart and liver issues, among other things.

On Arizona Gives Day, please consider a donation to Tucson Cold Wet Noses to help fund these perfectly wonderful dogs. We supply insulin, needles (these got through 10 a day!), diabetic-freindly food and supplements. We are a 501c3 and donations are tax deductible, as allowed by law.

WHAT IS TCWN? (TUCSON COLD WET NOSES)
We are dedicated to rescuing "unadoptable" dogs from local Arizona shelters' euthanasia and medical lists and finding their perfect homes, through successful adoptions or long term hospice foster homes. Our focus is on seniors, medically challenged and hospice dogs.
Tucson Cold Wet Noses Fosters, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) dog rescue in Southern Arizona dedicated to rescuing vulnerable dogs from local Arizona shelters and finding them perfect homes through successful adoptions or long-term hospice foster homes.

Founded in 2006 by a small group of like-minded friends, Tucson Cold Wet Noses initially operated like many other rescues by primarily rescuing youngish, healthy dogs that, with a little love and training and socialization, could be adopted by loving families.

Over time, the all-volunteer rescue recognized an urgent need to rescue Tucson's "unadoptable" dogs - dogs who are old, sick, or injured and in desperate need of a safe, loving place to land. With this knowledge, Tucson Cold Wet Noses shifted their focus and began rescuing senior, medically fragile, and hospice dogs from various shelters in southern Arizona who have placed dogs on medical or euthanasia lists.

Sadly, most of the dogs rescued by Tucson Cold Wet Noses enter into hospice care with foster parents who will lovingly care for them until it is time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

In addition to general age-related issues like vision problems, bad teeth, and arthritis, some foster dogs are lovingly treated for conditions like diabetes, epilepsy, heart problems, Valley Fever, Cushing's Disease, spinal injuries, cancer, and more. Because of the vulnerable dog population they serve, Tucson Cold Wet Noses incurs medical expenses much higher than many other rescues.

Tucson Cold Wet Noses relies on generous donations to help keep all fostered dogs fed and vetted. Foster parents are always needed to love and care for more and more dogs, so if you live in the Tucson area, please consider completing a foster application.

SMOKEY
Smokey is a year old Dachshund/Chihuahua Mix and rescued from an extremely high kill shelter. Since being in a foster home I have come out of my shell quite a bit. I LOVE people and love spending time with my human so much I can get stressed if they’re gone for too long.
