Happy World Snake Day! 🎉🐍

Today we’re celebrating one of the most misunderstood—and most incredible—animals on the planet.

Did you know?
🐍 Snakes don’t chase people—they’d much rather avoid us.
👅 They “smell” the world with their tongues.
💛 Every ball python has a unique pattern, just like a fingerprint.
🛣️ And yes… they’re the reason Route 66 Reptiles exists!

What started with one snake in 2021 quickly turned into a passion for these amazing animals, and now we’re fortunate to care for an incredible collection while helping others discover just how fascinating ball pythons can be.

Breeding season is officially underway at Route 66 Reptiles!

This month alone, we’ve had SIX locks! 🐍🎉

For anyone new to the hobby, a “lock” is when a male and female successfully pair—a huge milestone that means we’re one step closer to the possibility of eggs this fall! 🥚✨

While nothing is guaranteed, we’re incredibly excited about these pairings and can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store. If all goes well, this fall could be a fun one around here!

Stay tuned… we have a feeling there are some exciting babies in our future. 🤞🐍

One last appreciation post for this gorgeous Black Pastel Pied girl before she starts her next chapter. 🐍✨

She officially went to her new home today after working out a deal that both breeders are genuinely excited about. That’s one of our favorite parts of this hobby—building relationships where everyone walks away with animals that move their projects forward.

While it’s never easy to see one of our favorites leave, we know she’s going to play a big role in some incredible future projects. We can’t wait to watch what she’s produces in her new collection.

Thank you for trusting Route 66 Reptiles. Wishing her new owner nothing but success with this beautiful female! 🛣️💛

We present… another breeder in our Breeder Spotlight series! 🐍✨

After introducing our powerhouse male, Pastel Enchi Pavement, it only seemed right to show off his most recent mate and another key piece of the Route 66 Reptiles collection—our Pastel Banana Ivory female.

She may not be the flashiest snake in the rack, but don’t let that fool you. This girl carries some seriously valuable genetics, especially for the projects we love most: the Yellow Belly complex.

Paired with a Freeway or Highway, she has the potential to produce some incredible offspring, including Banana Freeways, Banana Highways, Banana Ivory’s, and more. That’s exactly why she’s such an important part of our future plans.

She’s bounced back beautifully after her last season, is putting weight back on like a champ, and should be ready to hit the breeding rotation again this fall. We can’t wait to see what she gives us next! 🛣️💛

🐍✨ Let’s Talk Pied! ✨🐍

One of the most recognizable and sought-after ball python morphs, the Pied gene is a recessive mutation that creates striking patches of pure white alongside normally patterned scales. It’s often mistaken for an albino by new snake keepers, but Pieds are a completely different genetic mutation!

One of the things we love most about Pieds is that no two are exactly alike. 🎨🐍

Some Pieds are loaded with color and only have a small splash of white, while others are almost entirely white with just a few islands of pattern. The amount and placement of white can vary dramatically from snake to snake, making each one truly unique.

Whether you’re a breeder chasing specific looks or a pet owner searching for that perfect snake, there’s a Pied out there for everyone.

🐍 Breeder Spotlight: Pastel Enchi Pavement 🐍

This handsome stud has been with us since he was just a baby, making him much more than just a breeder in our collection. He’s a family pet, a cornerstone of our breeding program, and one of the most special animals we own.

With a powerhouse genetic lineup of Pastel, Enchi, Asphalt, and Gravel, he’s a dream animal for anyone working Yellowbelly Complex projects—which just so happens to be our favorite thing to do here at Route 66 Reptiles. After all, you don’t name your business after a highway gene for nothing! 🛣️🐍

Over the years, he’s produced some truly jaw-dropping offspring, including a Super Enchi Pavement along with a number of vibrant Freeways and featuring Orange Dream, Enchi, and Banana that continue to impress us every season.

He’s currently enjoying a well-deserved break from breeding duties, but it won’t be long before he’s back to work. And trust us—we’ve got some exciting pairings lined up that we’re already counting down to.

🔥 Breeding Season Update! 🔥

This stunning TSK Axanthic Pied 100% Het Clown female has officially been paired and locked! 🐍🔒

We couldn’t be bigger fans of her incredible contrast with clean white sides & a powerhouse of double recessive genetics. To say we're excited to see what she produces is an understatement. 🤯

And considering the male we paired her to, this lady has the potential to create some truly mind blowing babies down the road. Now the waiting game begins! 🤞🥚

This five gene female is one we're extremely excited about for the future! 😎

🖤💛 1000g GHI Black Pewter Vanilla Hypo Female 💛🖤

We love how this combo creates an incredibly clean animal with a rich patterning and subtle contrast that only gets better with age. At 1000 grams, she's already growing into an absolute stunner and is well on her way to becoming a key part of our breeding projects.

We can't wait to see what she produces in the years ahead! 😝
