Spring is here and the "little" creek from our namesake is full! The family took a walk with the dogs to pick asparagus to enjoy the nice weather.

The promise of spring on the farm appeared yesterday while feeding the cows. Made it worth feeding in the rain.

Beautiful Sunday morning here in Northwest Iowa. Already 36 degrees ... with a high of 55 today. Not sure this little calf or first time heifer know how fortunate they are!

Baby spam!!

Febuary had been a strong start to baby season! 5 out of 5 heifer calves! The black calf is 3rd generation from one orignal 5 bottle calves!

March will bring some more calves, and some lambs too!

When the girls told me this spring they wanted Herefords, it was alittle late to find them 4H projects! But when these little reds joined us 6 months ago, the girls instantly fell in love with their sweet personalities. Needless to say, we will be sticking with the reds for a while!

Miss Leela is actually out of a Randy Owens cow. Of course. When we told my daughter that she said, "who's that?" Well ... the lead singer of Alabama .. "what's that?" Of course, I had to play her Dixieland Delight!

Livestock guardian puppies ready to go to new homes Labor Day weekend.

Excellent livestock/farm/homestead protectors. These guys have been exposed to goats, sheep, chickens, geese, cattle, horses, and childern. Extremely smart and out of working parents (ours).

Predator control looking to start new employment after Aug 19. Currently working with chickens, sheep, goats, and childern. Parents are experienced in predator control (large and small), home security, and herding assistance (holding gate openings and bringing up the group, etc). Perfect addition to any hobby farm/homestead.

Snickerdoodle made a repeat visit to the fair. The judge complimented Olivia on how well behaved he was for a 2 year old!
