A Denver-based non-profit, Bergen Spay & Neuter Alliance, will host a four-day spay and neuter clinic at the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2785 US-50, on Aug. 7 through 10, to offer discounted spay and neuter services to community members who struggle to afford the procedure for their pets.

The mobile clinic will offer high-quality spay/neuter services to pet owners at a reduced rate for cats and dogs. The clinic will also provide free spay/neuter services for feral cats that community members are caring for.

Help a feral cat for free with the Trap-Neuter-Return program

Requirements:
The cat must be feral, not a pet
Cats must be pre-registered (space is limited)
The cat must arrive at the clinic in a humane trap
Cats must receive an ear tip (no exceptions)

It’s warming up outside! And we all want to have fun in the sun. Please never leave your pet (or 2 legged human) in the car. Use the early mornings or late evenings to get your exercise with your furry friend. I could go on and on but please don’t make me cry!

Let me tell you a little story…
Leo came to Grand Junction from another state and was adopted into a loving home when he was a wee puppy. He was given all the right vaccines and started on heartworm prevention. When he was 7 months old, Leo was tested (given the life cycle for heart worm is 6 months), and was POSITIVE. Leo received GOLD STANDARD treatment at home with the care of his owners and Healthy Paws and kicked those heartworms to the curb. This little guy is now thriving and loves all the treats he gets when we visit!

Heartworm disease is GROWING. Mosquitoes are here! Colorado is the biggest importer of rescue dogs from heartworm endemic states. I recommend heartworm prevention year round for your pets health! This disease is nasty and without timely intervention or treatment, can be fatal!

They were super thankful that they didn’t have to travel in a carrier and wait at a vet clinic where dogs are barking. They’re siblings (3 very active labs) do enough!

Employee Spotlight! ✨the friendly voice on the other side✨

Taylor is our amazing remote office assistant. She was born in Glenwood Springs, but moved to the Grand Valley when she was young and is a graduate of Fruita Monument High School. On top of working, she is also a stay-at-home wife and mother to her husband, 4 children, and 3 cats. Her first job was working as a kennel tech at a local vet clinic and, after graduating from high school, she received training as a veterinary assistant. She worked as a veterinary assistant for 5 1/2 years before switching professions and starting her family. In her free time she likes to crochet stuffed animals, play video games with her family, and read.
