Hottest day of the summer so far! Be careful in the heat and know the signs to watch out for with heat stroke and heat exhaustion in dogs.
When walking your dog in high heat, make sure to keep to shady areas, offer water, take lots of sniff breaks, and cut down on their usual speed, distance and time spent outdoors. Take them for an earlier walk before the heat peaks if possible. With young puppies, older dogs, large dogs, or squish faced breeds, it may be better to take a short potty break and play in cool area or hang out in the shade rather than taking a walk. Avoid high intensity exercise such as fetch or jogging!
