🚨⚠️PARVOVIRUS OUTBREAK COVENTRY⚠️🚨

⚠️We have been alerted to a parvovirus outbreak in Coventry! This is spread through dogs, foxes and other animals! Can be caught indirectly from sniffing another dogs urine or faeces, face to face meets, licking another animals infected body fluid off their bodies after stepping in it etc.

⚠️Symptoms: severe Lethargy, Loss of appetite, diarrhea, vomitting, leading to blood in diarrhea and vomit.

⚠️YOU MUST TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET FOR IV FLUIDS IF THEY SHOW SIGNS.

⚠️Avoid areas with a lot of animal traffic (foxes and dogs!) parks, fields, groomers. Pets shops, vets unless urgent, training centres etc.

🚨PARVO IS FATAL AND EVEN VACCINATED DOGS CAN CATCH IT AS THE STRAIN MUTATES🚨

POST EDIT: For everyone asking "who the source is" it is a dog owner who lost their dog this morning and was informed by their vet of multiple cases. Thank you.

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION *

Please be aware that there have been several cases of suspected antifreeze toxicity in cats in the last couple of weeks. The cases have all been located within a close distance of each.

Antifreeze is a common agent found in radiator fluid, de-icers for cars as well as brake fluid etc. It is an odourless liquid that is sweet tasting and so is attractive to cats. Unfortunately it is extremely toxic to cats and can cause symptoms in a little as 30 minutes as well as irreversible kidney damage within 8-12 hours. Affected cats may appear "drunk" or wobbly with an increase in thirst. If you have any concerns about your cat then please call us immediately so they can be assessed.

There are, understandably, concerns that this is a targeted attack however it is very likely that this is the result of an accidental spill e.g. an empty de-icer container left out after a spring clean or a leak from a car etc. A cat simply needs to walk through a puddle of it and lick their paws to ingest a potentially fatal dose. We are asking everyone to please check around their house/ garden for any possible problematic containers or spills and to clean them up appropriately. Also if you notice any suspicious liquid on your cat then please wash it off immediately and call us for advice.
