Well we made it through Monday! Did anyone see the Blue Moon last night? It was cloudy & hard to see, but finally at about 11:10 she peeked out from behind the clouds! And no it didn't look blue but it was smaller & farther away!

Today's PSAS is this unique new plant I discovered over at Struthers Nursery The Agastache, it is also known by the names Anise Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint, a perennial it grows 2-3 ft tall and 1-2 ft wide, blooming from summer through fall. It grows in full sun to part shade, and does not like clay soil or poorly drained soil, it prefers a dryer soil and can even become more drought tolerant once established. The flowers are very fragrant and showy with the foliage smelling like a minty licorice when crushed! They are great for attracting pollinators! I bought this strictly because of how many native bees were on them at the nursery. The bees were just crazy on these plants!! Anyway I am going to include a link I found from the North Carolina extension about this plant and I'm also going to include one from the Florida Wildflower Foundation that they featured about bees! At the end it is very informational about ways to enhance your pollinator or butterfly gardens by giving design ideas!

Today I assisted at the 🐎 barn, where there is always something to do. I cleaned the stall doors, cleaned some cages, then we started the grooming! lol you should see your hands after you unbraid & brush out some Gypsy's braids. I also got to use a shoehorn looking tool to get the excess water off the ponies, I never knew there could be that much excess water under their bellies, or still on them period. I will also add they're much easier to comb out 🤠🐎🐎
Have a good night friends 🥱😴😴

Today's PSAS is Frogfruit Phyla nodiflora
Frogfruit also has a variety of common names such as Turkey tangle, Capeweed, Creeping Charlie, and Match head because some descriptions note it looking similar to matchsticks!
This precious little native ground cover is a pollinator powerhouse! It is not only a nectar source for native bees & butterflies, it is also a larval host for butterfly caterpillars the White peacock, Common buckeye, and more. This ground cover is an evergreen perennial that grows in full sun and shade, and will tolerate some foot traffic and dry periods. It is found in native nurseries and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a ground cover it's a delightful little plant. The pictures are from my own yard; the first picture is in the driveway and full sun, you will notice that it has more flowers than the second picture which is in the shade.

Below I will list three different links I used that all have great information on Frogfruit!

The ask.ifas link is a good one in general for information on some common lawn weeds and what is native what needs to be controlled etc.
