Statement Regarding Rally
To everyone who has followed Rally’s story — the German Shepherd we took in with pyometra and later discovered was heartworm positive — we want to address the negative review and false information being spread about our rescue.
Rally was placed with someone we had known for many years. The founder personally grew up knowing this individual and believed she would provide Rally with safe, loving foster care. The agreement was that Rally would be fostered with the possibility of adoption, and because there was no adoption fee, the foster agreed to take responsibility for Rally’s heartworm treatment. We agree not everyone is gonna agree how we do things and that is okay.
For a while, Rally appeared to be doing well in her care. Over time, however, we began receiving repeated calls and messages stating that Rally needed to be returned immediately, often with little to no warning. At times, the foster would then say the situation was resolved and Rally could stay. This created an unstable and confusing situation while we were also caring for other animals at our headquarters, including a nursing mother and other urgent intake cases.
When we were told Rally needed to be moved, we explained that we were not refusing to help her. We simply needed time to make a safe plan. We did not have open space at that exact moment, and we asked for updated photos and information so we could begin looking for another foster placement. Unfortunately, those were not provided.
Later, we were contacted by another individual in rescue who had been given information that was not accurate. We were spoken to in a very demanding manner and pressured to handle the situation according to someone else’s expectations, without the full truth of what had happened. Since then, we have been publicly criticized and accused of things that are not true.
We want to be very clear: we did not abandon Rally, and we did not refuse to help her. We were trying to create a safe plan with the space, funds, and resources available at that time. Rescue is not as simple as demanding that a dog be moved immediately. Every animal in our care matters, and safe placement requires planning.
Due to the ongoing drama, false information, and attacks toward our rescue, the foster has been removed from our program. Rally has now been signed over so that the other party involved may move forward with the arrangements they feel are best for her.
At this time, we are going to focus on the animals currently in our care, get them into loving homes, and then take a step back to reorganize. During this break, we will be strengthening our foster program and putting more serious applications, expectations, and agreements in place. Moving forward, we will be looking for honest, reliable fosters, crisis fosters, hospice fosters, and transport help — but drama and misrepresentation will not be tolerated.
We respect everyone who truly works for the animals, but we will not be dictated to, threatened, or publicly attacked because we do not operate under someone else’s control. Sponsoring medical care or having a name in rescue does not erase the work of the people who are physically in the field — picking up the dogs, handling emergencies, taking them to the vet, and making the hard decisions every day.
We do this from the heart, and sometimes our heart gets us into difficult situations. But we will continue to stand by the truth, protect our animals, and rebuild stronger.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us, believe in us, and understand the reality of rescue work. Your support means more than you know.
