Statement Regarding Rally

To everyone who has followed Rally’s story — the German Shepherd we took in with pyometra and later discovered was heartworm positive — we want to address the negative review and false information being spread about our rescue.

Rally was placed with someone we had known for many years. The founder personally grew up knowing this individual and believed she would provide Rally with safe, loving foster care. The agreement was that Rally would be fostered with the possibility of adoption, and because there was no adoption fee, the foster agreed to take responsibility for Rally’s heartworm treatment. We agree not everyone is gonna agree how we do things and that is okay.

For a while, Rally appeared to be doing well in her care. Over time, however, we began receiving repeated calls and messages stating that Rally needed to be returned immediately, often with little to no warning. At times, the foster would then say the situation was resolved and Rally could stay. This created an unstable and confusing situation while we were also caring for other animals at our headquarters, including a nursing mother and other urgent intake cases.

When we were told Rally needed to be moved, we explained that we were not refusing to help her. We simply needed time to make a safe plan. We did not have open space at that exact moment, and we asked for updated photos and information so we could begin looking for another foster placement. Unfortunately, those were not provided.

Later, we were contacted by another individual in rescue who had been given information that was not accurate. We were spoken to in a very demanding manner and pressured to handle the situation according to someone else’s expectations, without the full truth of what had happened. Since then, we have been publicly criticized and accused of things that are not true.

We want to be very clear: we did not abandon Rally, and we did not refuse to help her. We were trying to create a safe plan with the space, funds, and resources available at that time. Rescue is not as simple as demanding that a dog be moved immediately. Every animal in our care matters, and safe placement requires planning.

Due to the ongoing drama, false information, and attacks toward our rescue, the foster has been removed from our program. Rally has now been signed over so that the other party involved may move forward with the arrangements they feel are best for her.

At this time, we are going to focus on the animals currently in our care, get them into loving homes, and then take a step back to reorganize. During this break, we will be strengthening our foster program and putting more serious applications, expectations, and agreements in place. Moving forward, we will be looking for honest, reliable fosters, crisis fosters, hospice fosters, and transport help — but drama and misrepresentation will not be tolerated.

We respect everyone who truly works for the animals, but we will not be dictated to, threatened, or publicly attacked because we do not operate under someone else’s control. Sponsoring medical care or having a name in rescue does not erase the work of the people who are physically in the field — picking up the dogs, handling emergencies, taking them to the vet, and making the hard decisions every day.

We do this from the heart, and sometimes our heart gets us into difficult situations. But we will continue to stand by the truth, protect our animals, and rebuild stronger.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us, believe in us, and understand the reality of rescue work. Your support means more than you know.

Due to the negative review we have received we will be sharing the full update so everyone knows exactly what happened. Thanks for those who truly support us. ❤️

Last Sunday, while we were at an event, we were told about a couple of dogs who did not seem to be cared for properly. We were told a puppy had already been sold, and the others were being given away to whoever would take them. We went over thinking maybe we could help network the two dogs who were sitting in a cage.

But when we met them, everything changed.

One of them was so terrified of human touch that he peed on himself. The other huddled underneath his friend like he was trying to disappear. In that moment, we had a lot of questions. Was this simply financial neglect, or had these babies also been physically mistreated? We may never know the full story, but what we did know was that we could not walk away.

We asked the young girl standing there how much they wanted for them, and she said she didn’t think her aunt wanted anything — she just wanted them gone. At that point, we asked if we could also take the kennel, because we had not planned on taking in more animals that day. But when we saw the condition these two boys were in, our hearts knew what had to be done.

So now, please meet Benji and Arman. ❤️

Benji is about 2 1/2 years old and appears to possibly be a Maltipoo/Pekingese mix.

Arman will be 9 months old on the 10th. We were originally told these two were the mom and dad to the puppy, but once we got them back into our care, it was very clear they were both boys.

Upon intake, both boys were covered in urine underneath their bellies — and this was not normal urine. It was bright orange, showing signs of major dehydration. Arman also had a large, tangled sack of f***s matted into the hair around his tail that we had to physically cut out.

We have not posted them until now because we wanted to give them time to decompress, rest, and start learning that they are safe.

Arman has been so fearful that we have had to handle him with bite gloves because he was biting out of fear. But tonight, he made huge progress. He started to trust. He started to understand that we are not here to hurt him.

Benji is very sweet and loves people. These two boys seem like they have been each other’s rock for a very long time, and watching them lean on each other has been heartbreaking and beautiful all at once.

Because of that, we do believe Benji and Arman will most likely need to be adopted together. They look to each other for comfort, confidence, and safety. After everything they have been through, separating them may do more harm than good. Right now, they are bonded in a way that tells us they have survived by having each other.

Right now, we are looking for a foster home for Benji and Arman together. On Monday, they will be neutered. They will also receive their rabies vaccines, updated vaccines, heartworm testing, and deworming if needed. After that, the next step will be finding Benji and Arman the loving forever home they have always deserved — hopefully together, where they can continue healing side by side.

So yes, we were closed for intake.

But sometimes God places something directly in front of you that your heart cannot ignore. These two boys needed safety. They needed kindness. They needed someone to say, “You matter.”

And in just a few days, they have already made leaps and bounds.

They are learning that a human hand can be kind.
A human hand can feed.
A human hand can love.
A human hand can touch gently.
And a human hand can be trusted.

We are also working with Dogs Deserve Better, and we cannot thank Miss Lucy enough for helping make sure these boys are able to be neutered and receive the care they need.

Sometimes God shows you certain things for certain reasons.

Today, we saw a post about a little girl who was in need of a friend. A little girl who was in need of comfort. A little girl who was in need of peace.

It is not our place to share her story, but what we can say is this: the good Lord above laid it heavy on our hearts to help.

Our rescue is not like every other rescue. We don’t just see animals as animals. We see the healing they can bring. We see the way a tiny heartbeat can comfort a broken one. We see how God can use even the smallest paws to bring peace into someone’s life at exactly the right time.

Today, we were blessed to donate one of Whiskey’s puppies to a beautiful little girl named Peyton. We met her and her family in Smithfield, North Carolina, and the joy on Peyton’s face made every hard day, every sleepless night, and every struggle in rescue worth it.

Knowing just a piece of what this sweet girl is going through, and seeing how much comfort one tiny puppy could bring her, meant the world to us. That little heart and those little paws were placed in her life for a reason, and we truly believe God had His hand in it.

Peyton, we hope you sleep a little better tonight, baby girl. We hope your new best friend brings you comfort, peace, and all the puppy kisses your heart needs.

We are so blessed to have met this sweet family, and even more blessed that God allowed us to be a small part of Peyton’s healing. Sometimes rescue is not just about saving animals. Sometimes, through them, God helps save pieces of us too❤️

Licorice Update 🖤

As many of you know, we rescued Licorice back in December. Since then, this sweet girl has been through so much — multiple meet-and-greets, a foster-to-adopt placement that sadly did not work out, and then what we thought was finally her perfect forever home.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of anyone’s hopes or plans, Licorice got away from her adopter and was clipped by a car. Her injuries were severe enough that we had to make the heartbreaking decision to amputate her back leg.

Licorice handled surgery absolutely amazingly. She is strong, resilient, and continues to show us every single day that she is a fighter.

During the foster-to-adopt placement that did not work out, we believe Licorice may have gone into heat. We did our due diligence with applications, and the home had no other pets, but there was a neighbor dog nearby. Licorice was in that placement for about a month.

When she came back to us and went through surgery, there were no signs of pregnancy. However, when we later took her in to be spayed, an x-ray confirmed that Licorice was pregnant — and that the puppies were extremely viable.

In rescue, hard decisions have to be made. Not everyone will always agree with every choice a rescue makes, and we understand that. But in Licorice’s case, after speaking with our vet, we felt that a spay-abort was not the right option for her. Our rescue is about making sure the animals in our care are protected physically, emotionally, and mentally — and with everything Licorice had already been through, we made the decision we felt was best for her.

So we have been keeping a little secret…

Licorice gave birth to eight healthy babies on April 21st. 🖤

She labored beautifully, needed no emergency vet intervention, and has been caring for her sweet babies like the amazing mama she is. We set up a safe whelping area for her, stayed in close contact with our vet, and have been monitoring mama and babies closely.

Licorice’s puppies will stay with her until they are old enough. They will receive their initial exams, deworming, and first vaccines through our vet before going to approved homes. Once her babies are weaned and Licorice is fully recovered, she will go in for her spay appointment and then be placed back up for adoption.

Licorice will need a very understanding, experienced home. She has come such a long way, but she needs someone patient, committed, and willing to love her through every part of who she is.

Before adoption, Licorice will be:
✅ Spayed
✅ Up to date on vaccines
✅ Microchipped
✅ Fully vetted

Please follow our page for updates on Licorice and her eight beautiful babies. This girl has survived so much, and now we are honored to help her through this next chapter. 🖤

We are tired. We are stretched thin. And we need help.

HART needs fosters, and we need forever homes for the babies currently in our care.

Right now, we are trying to focus on the dogs who are already depending on us. Biscuit and Whiskey are both scheduled to be spayed. However, over the last couple of weeks that Biscuit has been with us, she has continued to gain more and more weight. At this time, we do believe Biscuit may be pregnant, which is very likely one of the reasons someone abandoned her in the first place.

We will be speaking with our vet about the safest and best option for Biscuit moving forward.

It has also been brought to our rescue’s attention that multiple people, including individuals in the rescue world, have been saying that dogs are getting pregnant while in our care.

Let me be very clear: that is absolutely not true.

HART is boots on the ground. We pull strays directly off the streets. We take owner surrenders when we can, often knowing very little about their history, where they came from, what they have been through, or what condition they are truly in until they are safe with us.

What we will not tolerate is people bashing this rescue while we are doing the hard, dirty, heartbreaking work that so many others walk away from.

With that being said, we are taking a step back.

We are going to focus on adopting out the babies we currently have, getting Biscuit and Whiskey the vet care they need, and finding solid, dependable fosters. Once we have a stronger foster system in place, we will begin pulling and taking intakes again.

The rescue world can be cutthroat, and honestly, that is one of the saddest parts of this work. It should never be about who can bash who, who can spread rumors, or who can tear another rescue down. At the end of the day, we should all be here for the same reason:

The animals.

So right now, we are asking our community to step up.

If you can foster, please reach out.
If you are ready to adopt, please reach out.
If you cannot foster or adopt, please share.
If you want to support Biscuit, Whiskey, and the babies in our care, donations are always appreciated.

We are tired, but we are not done.
We just need help carrying the weight.

Dobby is coming back to the rescue — through absolutely no fault of his own.

This sweet boy is up to date on his shots, potty trained, and ready for a safe place to land. What Dobby needs right now is simple: a foster home to step up for him, or even better, a forever family who is ready to give him the stability and love he deserves.

He has already been through enough change, and we do not want him sitting without a home when he is such a good boy with so much love to give.

Please, if you can open your home to foster Dobby, reach out to us. If you are looking to adopt, Dobby may be the one you have been waiting for.

Foster needed. Forever home wanted. Dobby deserves his next chapter. ❤️

🚨 FOSTERS NEEDED – WE CAN’T DO THIS ALONE 🚨

Right now, we are at capacity❤️‍🩹

We have FOUR puppies from Whiskey who have officially been weaned.
They’ve had their first round of vaccines and are currently being treated for Coccidia. In just a few weeks, they’ll be headed back for their second round of vaccines — but they need safe, loving places to land right now.

We are begging for open homes, open hearts, and fosters willing to step up.

🐾 Biscuit
Our sweet girl with the gentlest soul.
She loves kids, other dogs, and just wants to be loved.
She has her spay scheduled for May 1st and will be fully up to date on everything.
She deserves a couch.

🐾 The Fayetteville Crew
The babies that were left behind with nothing… no food, no water… just waiting to be saved.
We still have four of them, including Dobby, who is coming back to us and needs somewhere to go.
Every single one of these puppies has been vaccinated — they just need a place to feel safe.

💔 These are not “easy” cases.
💪 These are the ones we step in for when no one else will.

But we cannot continue saying yes if we don’t have fosters to back us.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering… this is your moment.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference… this is how.

👉 We provide support
👉 We provide guidance
👉 You provide the love that saves their life

💕Searching for her forever💕

Ella Grace’s journey started far from here… all the way in Texas.
She made her way to North Carolina, landed safely in foster, and now she’s just waiting on the one thing she’s never truly had… a place to call home. 🐾❤️

This sweet girl has been through the unknown, the transitions, the waiting… and through it all, she has remained nothing but pure love.

Meet Ella Grace:
🐶 Great with other dogs
🐱 Cat friendly
👶 Loves kids
🏡 Potty trained
🛏️ Crate trained
💉 Scheduled for her rabies vaccine next week

She is the kind of dog that fits right into a family like she’s always belonged there. Gentle. Loving. Easygoing. The kind that will lay her head on your lap after a long day and remind you what unconditional love really feels like.

Ella Grace doesn’t need much… just a soft place to land, a family to love, and a promise that this time—it’s forever.

💔 She’s already made the long journey… don’t let her story end in another wait.

📩 If you’re ready to give Ella Grace the forever home she deserves—or can foster—please reach out to us today.

❤️Dobby is looking for his FOREVER home… again ❤️

Many of you remember Dobby — formerly known as Ash — one of the babies from our Fayetteville crew that were left behind… starving… with no food… no water… just waiting and hoping someone would come back for them.

We stepped in when no one else did… and Dobby fought his way through that beginning.

A few weeks ago, we thought his story had the happy ending he deserved.
Dobby was adopted by a very sweet woman who truly cares about him.

But sometimes… love just isn’t enough when life gets in the way.

Due to her work schedule, she knows in her heart she can’t give Dobby the time, attention, and life he truly deserves — and instead of failing him, she is doing the right thing by asking us to help find him something better. And for that, we respect her. ❤️

✨ About Dobby:

* Great with people
* Good with other dogs
* House trained
* Crate trained
* Just has some minor nervous pooping when adjusting (which is completely understandable given his past)
*Up to date on all shots.

But above everything…
Dobby is SWEET. Loving. Loyal. And ready to finally feel safe.

This boy has already been through more than most dogs ever should.
He deserves a home that is stable… patient… and forever.

🏡 If you can foster or adopt Dobby, please reach out to us immediately.
Let’s not let this boy slip through the cracks again.
