ABOUT DANA BRYSON-FOUNDER OF BRYWOOD KENNELS
At ten years of age, my step-dad walked me down to the Greenfield Kennels, owned by the renowned handler and judge, Peter Green. For the next eight years, I showed up, every day after school, at Greenfield Kennels, hom
e of the top terriers in the nation. Peter and his staff taught me how to groom, care for and show dogs. I began by lead breaking puppies, and gradually learned all that is necessary to be part of a support team, and eventually an independent handler. I traveled with the “Green Team” up and down the east coast as dogs were shown, that were in their care. Eventually, I became a competitor in junior showmanship, successfully exhibiting an Airedale as my first show dog. Eventually, I settled on the Wire Fox Terrier as my breed, and continued on in juniors competition. After college, I worked for the Greens on a part-time basis while I was employed at New Bolton Center for Large Animals, one of the premier equine centers in the United States. As a professional dog handler, I have been successful in showing highly competitive dogs for about ten years. I have been privileged to handle most of the breeds in the Terrier Group, as well as Working and Sporting dogs. My first highly successful dog was CH Steele’s Link to Terrier Soul. Link was ranked number one Wire Fox Terrier in 2006 and 2007, winning all breed Best in Shows as well as Specialty Best of Breeds. In 2009 , I married my husband, Chris Benn, who is a competitive archer, hunter , and, of course, a dog lover. I wish to be a person in the dog world who is known as honest, hard-working, respectful and responsible. I develop a close personal relationship with the dogs that are in my care. Those who are full time specials, live in my house and receive much personal attention.
