Like most places we prioritize keeping our habitats clean! Not only does it cut down on flies and parasites and the like but it keeps the space more sanitary for the animals. That means mucking twice (sometimes 3 times) a day! Comanche here offers his help whenever he can 😂🦙

Ruben 🦙Update ~ So far so good 🙏 & we’re so thankful for the donations toward his care! 😇 He has settled in at home, next to but safely separated from the very inquisitive boys who wanted all the smells of his adventure away. His buddies spend time laying next to him. He is on a variety of meds every 12 hours, which is more work than say a dog who happily takes a pill pocket. It’s a team effort and we are thankful for Sara & Mikayla’s round the clock care giving meds, checking his temp and monitoring the correct functioning of his Foley catheter. Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers and if you are to donate toward his ongoing care, we are deeply grateful for your kindness! 😊

Ruben, a young alpaca, is facing a medical emergency, and we're taking swift action to save his life. After exhibiting signs of distress while urinating, we quickly administered pain medication and observed his condition. Our local vet's examination led us to rush Ruben to UF VET, where ultrasound & x-rays revealed struvite crystals in his severely distended bladder, posing a significant threat to his health. To prevent a potentially fatal outcome, we authorized emergency surgery to drain and flush his bladder and tract, as well as the placement of a Foley catheter. Ruben is currently receiving IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication, and is recovering well, although he'll require hospitalization for at least 48 hours. The catheter will remain in place for a minimum of two weeks, after which Ruben will return to UF VET for further assessment. His care is expected to be more than $3500, an unexpected expense for our rescue, but one that's essential to giving Ruben a chance at life. If you can help us help Ruben with a donation toward his care, we are grateful for your support! Your thoughts and prayers for Ruben's recovery are sincerely appreciated. 🙏🦙 This pic was taken as we loaded Ruben in truck for trip to UF Vet. We are waiting for post surgery pics.

🎉 This week we celebrate Luca & Kiki’s 1st Birthday! 🥳🐈‍⬛ 🍰🐈 ❤️Remember mom-to-be Clover showed up at the rescue a few days before delivery. She not only found a safe place to give birth on 3/19, but a forever home & family. As she bonded with Merlin, he adopted the family!
