💚💙Happy Wednesday Yakima Valley!!💙💚

Today was very busy day for our Animal Control Officers!

We would like to share a story that occurred today. We understand our shelters are full and can not take any strays in, but we are happy to come out and scan any pup for a microchip. (Vets do it as well for free!!!)
Meet Samson, Samson has been missing for several years now and was adopted to his owner luckily with a registered microchip. Unfortunately some thing bad happened and they lost Samson. Animal Control Officer Goss was contact by the public to come look at a stray dog that had been walking around the Villa Real Drive in Sunnyside, you may have even seen post about him saying hi to the neighbors trying to make friends! When Animal Control Officer Goss arrived she was able to identify the dog through the microchip and with the great efforts of the Yakima Humane Society, Animal Control and Local Law Enforcement we were able to reunite sweet Samson back home today!
Good luck on your adventures Samson! 💙💚

Again we cannot stress enough how important it is to microchip your pet, we want to return your pets home where they are safe!

Thank you to everyone that shared owners have been contacted.

Animal control officer Goss is trying to look for the owners of Yorkshire terrier in Sunnyside near the area of South 13th and Lincoln Avenue. The dog was micro chipped and had a pink collar. Unfortunately, the microchip could not provide much information for us to make contact with an owner. Please reach out to Officer Goss through Sunnyside Police Department or message us directly with proof of ownership. The picture below is not the animal picture is for reference.

Message from ACO Goss,
*this is not the photo of the dog*
Today I was able to return some pups home in the Sunnyside/Grandview area that were, luckily, microchipped! I can’t stress enough how important it is to microchip your pets! Be on the lookout on the Yakima Humane Society page for pop up events that may include microchiping services! Let’s keep our pets safe, we would rather return your pets home then take them to the shelter!
Happy Thursday Lower Valley!

??Did you know??
Did you know Washington state is a On Leash law state? Washington Administrative Code states that "All pets or domestic animals must be kept under physical control on a leash no greater then 8 feet in length". Unless the animal is a fully task trained service animal trained to preform task for the handlers disability (not a emotional support animal) and the leash interferer's with the task, all pets must remain on a leash unless confined in a off leash area.
Check your city's codes,
some city's may have a requirement in the codes stating your pet has to be contained in a fence or tether at all times on your property.
We want everyone's pets to stay safe and live a long happy life.

For more information on a service animal and emotional support animal visit:

A new environment can be overwhelming for a newly adopted dog. Having them on a leash allows you to guide and control their movements, preventing them from getting into potentially dangerous situations, especially if they're not yet familiar with their new surroundings.

💚Good morning,
We ask that if the public wishes to report a animal problem to Animal Control that you please call your local police department and not our sheltering facility. Our shelter is a holding facility not a animal control station. Our officers are mobile and work out of their contracted cities.
Happy Monday.💚

Pasados safe haven has provided a unfortunate update to the Yakima County Reward Case for animal cruelty. Viewer discretion is advised. A link to their update is below:
https://www.pasadosafehaven.org/.../10000-reward-dogs.../
A $10,000 reward is available for tips leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible in this case. If anyone would like to donate to the reward and support Pasado's work on this ongoing investigation, can donate through their website. or here: https://bit.ly/3EmdBLL
We always want to highly encourage "if you see something, say something"! You can help put a stop to this and report animal cruelty to your local law enforcement. Pasados has provieded a page on animal cruelty that can be accessed here: https://bit.ly/3BUYvey

WARNING: SENSITIVE CONTENT.

Update on our Yakima County Reward Case: We are heartbroken to report that the body of another dog brutally murdered was found in Yakima County. Estimated at roughly 4 years of age, a female Mastiff type breed dog was discovered on Sunday, August 20th near the intersection of Bell Telephone Rd and Roza Creek Rd, on the LT Murray Wildlife Area (WA Dept of Fish and Wildlife property). It appears that this dog was shot twice and left to die.

We continue to work with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office to help catch those responsible for these horrific crimes. Together with support from our partners People for Animal Care & Kindness, Team Okanogan Animal Rescue, and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), we are offering a $10,000 reward for tips leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible. If you would like to donate to the reward and support our work on this ongoing investigation, please do so here: https://bit.ly/3EmdBLL

If you see something in your community, say something! The most important action you can take is to report animal cruelty to your local law enforcement agency. Learn more and report suspected cruelty to Pasado’s here: https://bit.ly/3BUYvey

We would like to add something to this post.
We understand and hear the public’s concern. We would like to reassure that our current appointed ACOs will still continue to do their duties inside their cities until change happens. Each jurisdiction will be different, so we ask that you watch your city’s social media and city announcements for any changes. Also please understand that our shelter is at max capacity and we are working hard with transfers as well as other agencies to get these wonderful pets into homes. But we need more fosters! Due to the low space in the shelter our ACOs are on emergency intakes only. If you don’t know if it’s an emergency, reach out to your local law enforcement agency and ask. Our ACOs and staff are happy to scan found fur-babies for microchips and to give finders the resources information guides to other rescues that may be able to take these animals. Our wonderful ACOs will be responding to calls and doing their day to day jobs conducting investigations, citations, follow ups, and licensing. Our animal control officers are very dedicated to their jobs, and hope to have your support as the city’s intended to hire ACOs to work for the city’s.
Please don’t forget to fill out a lost and found report on our website! This helps in returning lost fur-babies home.
💚Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend💚

If you see something, say something.
Although our animal control officers are very busy doing their day to day duties, they can not be everywhere at once. (Although it would make our jobs easier if we had superpowers). We all play a role in keeping our communities safe. It’s easy to be distracted during our daily routines such as going to work, school, or the grocery store, but as you’re going about your day, if you see something that doesn’t seem quite right, say something. If it goes unreported then we don’t know about it.
Please report it the correct way and not through Facebook.
💚Happy Tuesday 💚

On 8/7/23 Simba was picked up and brought to us by ACO Goss from the lower valley. ACO Goss was dispatched to a call for a dog that appeared injured and dying, upon arrival Simba was barely hanging on and was suffering from heat related problems and injuries to his leg. ACO Goss had to lift Simba into her truck, at that point Simba could not stand.
ACO Goss quickly acted and started doing emergency care such as alcohol on the paw pads, and a cooling pad for him to lay on.
Now Simba can’t get enough of the love, and greats all of the staff with a smile and a happy tail.
Simba is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society for $175. This covers his neuter, microchip, and vaccines. Show this giant baby some love 💚🐾
