🎂Today is Turid Rugaas B-day. 🎂Turid guides many of us in the best way to honor animals, from a place of respect and compassion. She taught me that we need to listen to the animal above all things. They are wise and they know. I am privileged to have studied under her, and to have spent some time in Norway last year, an experience that changed my perception of training forever.

💛Recognizing and honoring the individual needs of each dog during grooming is a skill.💛 Because each dog has specific needs and emotional responses to grooming, we work with them to provide them with the coping tools they need. Taking a break is an easy way to release tension and allow the dog to shake off the emotions. Enrichment stations often help dogs cope with grooming and allows the dog to build positive associations. Because grooming is not just about hair. Grooming is about bonding, emotionl safety and caring!

❤️Sharing the last 4 precious dogs that need help this week out of the shelter❤️

FOUR dogs remaining in need of a Hail Mary overnight to be saved! Rescues will need committed fosters to be able to help!

1. Fendi: Youth behind her and still many good years left! A solid dog with no known major flaws!

2. Hunie: Long legged and under weight, the shelter should be Hunie's last stop! She still wags her tail in optimism when you're near her kennel door.

3. Jeffrey: A black terrier mix stuck in ISO! So many odds stacked against him yet he just yearns for another sniffy walk.

4. John Legend: A young pup who has some resource fears. With dedication to training and management, he’s a pocket sized floof that would love to learn!

AND, beloved Rex! We are so grateful that when we learned just before 4pm that his adoption application fell off that Koch's stepped up and tagged him, but he still needs a foster!! A bit shy, but wiggly, playful, and food motivated, this handsome boy will thrive with a friendly dog companion and a foster that will go slow to build his trust and confidence in people!
Please help if you're a fit for any of these remaining doggos!

✨ Big, happy news to share! ✨

I know I’ve been a little quieter these past couple of weeks—it’s only because so many exciting things have been happening behind the scenes.

First, we are thrilled to welcome two wonderful new team members, Lia and Ryan! They’ve been with us for just a couple of weeks and are already fitting right into our very unique, gentle way of working with animals. They’ll play an important role in our future growth. If you see them when you visit, please say hello—they’re looking forward to meeting all of you.

And… here comes the dream-come-true news: we have just secured a brand new facility! 🐾 It’s a spacious home for our fear-free grooming, training, and enrichment programs. Renovations will be starting soon, and we’ll be sharing updates along the way. Many of you know this has been a long journey with its fair share of challenges, and we’re so deeply grateful for your trust, encouragement, and love for your dogs. You’ve helped make this possible.

💛 Next year is going to be a truly special one for all the dogs in our care—we have so many exciting surprises in store, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Thank you for being part of our family. Stay tuned!

😨🙏Dog pulling on a leash? 👆You may want to consider learning how to walk dogs on a loose leash instead.

❤️Millie typically pulls a lot and gets overstimulated with a 6 foot leash and collar. But look at what happens when she is wearing a harness and a 30ft leash instead! She stops pulling and starts enjoying her walks.

❤️When we give dogs freedom and choices, they typically choose to be with us.

🙌Less control, more agency. Good job Millie!
