Burnout Isn’t Quiet. It’s Loud and Public 🔥
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Burnout rarely starts as cruelty.
It often starts as being disgruntled. 😤

Disgruntled is what you become when you are overwhelmed, unheard, and slowly turning bitter.

Burnout doesn’t always look like quitting.
Sometimes it looks like becoming hostile.

It shows up as…
🔺Public call outs instead of private conversations
🔺Dragging people in comment sections
🔺Name calling disguised as accountability
🔺Mocking adopters fosters or other rescuers online
🔺Screenshots posted for humiliation not resolution
🔺Dogpiling under the excuse of speaking truth
🔺Using shame fear and intimidation to control behavior
🔺Assuming ignorance or malice instead of asking questions
🔺Biting the hands of non rescuers who are trying to help
🔺Belittling the public for not knowing rules they were never taught
🔺Turning curiosity into punishment
🔺Driving away adopters fosters donors volunteers and allies

🛑 You can love animals deeply and still be abusive to people.

📣 Being overwhelmed explains the behavior.
It does not excuse it. 📣

When rescue becomes a place where people are insulted
Where asking questions gets you attacked
Where disagreement turns into character assassination
🚩That is not advocacy
🚩That is dysregulation 😵‍💫

Rescue cannot survive in a culture of intimidation.

*When people with good intentions are met with humiliation instead of guidance,
that’s not advocacy.
That’s a system failing the very animals it claims to protect.*
