It kills me to have to write this so I'm going to keep it short. Mack unfortunately had another seizure 3 hours from the first one this morning and we had to make the final decision to help him cross the rainbow bridge early this afternoon.

We are devastated.

Mack is loved by so many and will be missed everyday day. I am so thankful to have his daughter but she has no clue the size of the paw prints she has to fill.

Unfortunately as of 1:30pm today Mack has crossed the rainbow bridge. 😭💔

It breaks my heart to write this through tears, but unfortunately, Mack is not going to be with us as long as we prayed he would be.

His lymphoma is spreading much faster than we anticipated and has now begun causing seizures. We are starting him on medication to help control them, but we are also preparing ourselves for the possibility that they may not work.

We will not force him to continue living in a state that takes away his quality of life. As heartbreaking as it is, we are beginning to plan for end-of-life care. We want Mack to go out on a high note, surrounded by the people who love him, rather than waiting until he is completely down.

We have always believed that a day early is better than a month too late. Watching the life slowly fade from his eyes is something that hurts more than I can put into words. Our happy-go-lucky boy, who has always lived for hunting, is beginning to lose interest in retrieving. If you know Mack, you know just how much that says. He is starting to tell us in his own way that his time may be coming sooner rather than later.

No matter how hard we pray, how much we hope, or how desperately we wish things were different, we cannot make our dogs live forever. What we can do is make the hardest decisions out of love, put their needs before our own, and make sure they never have to suffer just because we aren't ready to let go.

We are not ready. We will never be ready. But we owe him that much.

Please keep our sweet Mack in your thoughts and prayers. We are going to soak up every moment, make the most of whatever time we have left, and let him enjoy the things he loves for as long as he can. ❤️

🐾Mack Update🐾

We have made the difficult decision to move forward with steroid protocols for Mack’s lymphoma.

Mack is almost 10 years old, and we feel it wouldn’t be fair to take his last hunting season away from him to attempt chemotherapy. We also don’t want to put our sweet boy through the stress of traveling and treatments. 😭 This has not been an easy decision. There has been a lot of crying, a lot of research, and, of course, lots more crying.

Unfortunately, we don’t know how long the steroids will continue to work. We could have two months, or we could get lucky and have two years. For now, we are taking it one day at a time and making the most of every moment we have with him.

The good news is that the steroids have already brought the swelling down, and Mack is doing great! He is acting completely like his normal self, with the exception of drinking and peeing more.

Our plan is to do what he loves most, give him a great hunting season, make more memories, and go out on a high note!

I want to thank everyone who has reached out, sent messages, and kept Mack in your prayers. It means more to us than you know. 💕

Please continue to keep our sweet boy in your prayers, and especially pray that he makes it to his 10th birthday on December 19th! 🎂🐾

We know we can’t control how much time we have left with him, but we are going to make every single day count. One more hunt, one more adventure, one more memory at a time.

Keep fighting baby boy! We still have a lot of hunting to do.

💔 Some news we never want to have to share…

Our sweet Mack has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

There are some dogs who leave paw prints on your heart, and then there are dogs like Mack, who become such a special part of your life that it’s hard to imagine a world without them. Mack is so much more than a dog to us. He’s family, a hunting companion, a friend, and the reason we have our Lone Willow family.

This is not the news we were hoping for, and we’re still trying to process it all and figure out what the next steps will look like. Right now, we’re taking things one day at a time, cherishing the moments we have, and loving on our boy as much as we possibly can.

Mack has given us so much more than we could ever put into words. From the memories made in the field to the everyday moments at home, he has made an impact on our lives that will never be forgotten. If you know Mack, you know just how special he is.

We don’t have all the answers right now, and the road ahead is uncertain, but one thing we know for sure is that Mack will be surrounded by love every step of the way.

We appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and positive wishes for our sweet boy as we navigate this difficult chapter. Thank you to everyone who has loved Mack, followed his journey, and been part of his story. Your kindness means more than you know.

Please give your dogs an extra hug today. We never get nearly enough time with the ones who mean the most to us.
