These are not grass fed calves. These calves are (GMO) corn fed beef.
When you go to the store to buy hamburger, you read a label and have a choice between “beef” or “grass fed beef”. You’ve heard that grass fed, organic beef is better for your family, so you spend a couple extra dollars for the “higher quality beef”.
Do you know what the label doesn’t say?
The label doesn’t say that a father and son have spent months taking care of these calves as if they were their own children.
The label doesn’t say that these calves would have died if they hadn’t been medicated with extra vaccinations after getting sick in the cold, wet weather this fall.
The label doesn’t say that a family put blood, sweat and tears into raising these calves to market weight- just hoping to break even.
The label doesn’t say that these calves were raised in the most humane environment, and cared for with love since the day they were born.
Labels can be deceiving. They don’t show the whole picture, or tell the entire story.
I’ve ate GMO, corn fed beef my whole life. I’m healthy, happy, and have an appreciation for the work it takes to get food from the farm to the table.
So can you do me a favor? The next time you’re standing in the grocery store and choosing your beef- read past the label.
