See that little chubby dog? That’s elderly and blind Daisy, a six year resident of Meade Canine Rescue.
While the rescue has officially relocated to New York-Daisy was left behind as she was adopted by a wonderful woman (and previous Meade adopter) from Portland, Oregon. Due to scheduling issues, there was a two week delay in uniting Daisy with her forever home.
Our volunteer Lisa drove Daisy up to Medford, where the lovely adopter met Lisa for the ‘Daisy handoff!’ The adopter asked that she not be photographed-but that’s her hands on Daisy, who is standing on a blanket she made especially for little Daisy! ❤️
The adopter loved Daisy the minute she saw her, and is going to be an amazing dog mom to our now-sweet Daisy. We could not be more happy!!
Daisy had many adventures along the way to Oregon-including a photo opp at a lemonade stand-which was about 50 feet from an impromptu ‘do your biz’ stop in Yreka. Also, her first time crossing state lines into Oregon from California, and her first hotel stay to boot!
She was adored by the wonderful hotel desk clerk, who gave Daisy a nice sendoff from the Holiday Inn Express in Walnut Creek, Ca.
She enjoyed the road trip, which also included a ‘spa experience’ at the hotel, where she slept on a King sized bed and in the morning was served breakfast in bed, in her own personal dog bed.
Daisy was a feisty pup when she first arrived at the rescue, not hesitating to bite any human or dog that walked by! She was infamous during her 6 years at Meade Canine Rescue! Since those wild early days she has mellowed, and in her golden years is just a bundle of love.
A HUGE shoutout to fellow Meade volunteer Noelle Hartshorn- who graciously took Daisy in and cared for her these last two weeks, in preparation for the adoption road trip!
