Keep up the good work!
Keep up the good work.
Local greyhound is still missing near Gallup.
Yesterday, Altered Tails donated and delivered 1,300 Rabies vaccines to six sites on the Navajo Nation (which is the size of West Virginia) for free vaccinations to the community, THEN staffed a 7-hour vaccine clinic in the nation’s capital to fight this deadly virus on World Rabies Day. The weather was not our friend, and our team braved sideways rain, wind gusts, and the cold to serve a line of cars full of dogs and cats needing care. From working cattle dogs, handsome huskies, cats on dashboards, and a car with 12 dachshunds(!), our team worked diligently for hours. Have you ever caught a cat in a car with a towel?? No task too hard or too crazy for our amazing team 😊 Wagging tails, sloppy kisses, and happy pet owners made our day, but knowing we were helping protect animals from a fatal disease was worth every moment. We were humbled by the outpouring of gratitude from tribal members and honored by Animal Rez-Q, Inc. and the Navajo Nation for the invitation. When you donate to Altered Tails, this is what you support: making a difference, providing care, saving lives. We will be posting incredible stories from our trip all week, showcasing the people and animals we helped, stay tuned!

Have you seen me?
Last year we supplied well over 200,000 lbs of pet food to tribal communities including SRPMIC, as well as to Navajo Nation, Fort McDowell and *many* more around the state!
While the Pandemic has delivered challenges to families across the country over the last year, Native communities have struggled tremendously and NAGI Foundation remains committed to supporting them however we can. As Executive Director, Sheila Iyengar says:
“Our primary focus is the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and if there is another Native community in need, and we can help, we will also be there. It is a tremendous honor to provide resources and support to other tribes. In our culture animals are medicine, they help us in tangible and intangible ways. It is imperative to take care of our sister and brother animals in order for our traditional ways to continue."
All of this is only possible thanks to invaluable partnerships we have - and the dedication and hard work of - extraordinary organizations across Arizona, like The Arizona Pet Project and Animal Rez-Q, Inc. and right here in SRPMIC with the Emergency Operations team. Together, we've secured tons (literally) of food, trucking services to transport it, made connections with other tribes, and coordinated distribution flawlessly. And so much more. Our gratitude runs deep to these teams. 🙏🏽
Time for some good news on this #ThankfulThursday!
Thanks to strong partnerships with organizations around the Valley NAGI Foundation has been able to work closely to connect our friends at Animal Rez-Q, Inc. to key resources for a special delivery of critically-needed items such as pet medical supplies and services as well as pet food, for the people of Navajo Nation. (Pictured here is just one car-load of the larger donation!)

While we provided pet food and helped to connect the dots, we want to give a HUGE shout out to Executive Director, Glenda Davis of Animal Rez-Q and her team. They coordinated everything in this recent delivery from A to Z, and distributed the food and supplies to families in need. WAY TO GO! ❤️🙌🏽
We are also incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside AMAZING groups like the mobile medical team at Midwestern University, and our partners at Friends for Life Animal Rescue, Desert Harbor Doberman Rescue of Arizona and Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA to support families and pets both here at home, and across Arizona. Thank you for ALL you do!
Time for some good news folks!! Today we are dropping off the first part of a MASSIVE donation of Blue Buffalo pet food to the Navajo Nation. In total, 100,000 lbs of dog and cat food is being delivered to this community, who like so many, have been struggling tremendously during this pandemic.
Our trucking partners made the haul up to Window Rock this week, and today we are unloading so it can begin to be distributed to families who need it.
HUGE thank you's are going out to Animal Rez-Q, Inc. Executive Director, Glenda Davis, and her team for their tremendous efforts in orchestrating the distribution and to our friends at The Nagi Foundation for creating this partnership and being here to help with the delivery!
All of this is only possible thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Blue Buffalo for the donation of this critically needed pet food, and to YOU, our supporters and generous donors for helping to secure the drivers and trucking company to transport this food. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
