I may have terrible luck, but in the words of David Cuomo, I have a horse shoe up my a$$ when it comes to things with the bebes šŸ˜‚ it’s hard work but the universe has taken care of us.

I hunted during the holidays for the sink for the bebe room. I hadn’t been able to find it anywhere under 4-500..

I should be cleaning up my craft mess, but I crashed, and decided to check Wayfair just incase and BAM. Literally the first search. Can I also how hard it is to mention the left side set up sink?!

Let’s hope my horse shoe on this room keeps going šŸ˜‚

Just so you all know I’m not over here being a slack ass without kittens 🤣
Production lines started last weekend, we’re on a delusional one month sprint, convincing myself I can finish all of my framed art and suncatchers before my end of baby build out starts - Bebe room is on hold til Jan 28 when the floors go in, plumber next week… phew! We’re moving on all fronts

Best new years date ever, napping through Stranger Things. He even got caught making biscuits briefly (which he never does). Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll wake up and bite me to even things out, but dang he’s sweet when he wants to be.

Thank you all for hanging out with us on this teeny postage stamp of the internet, we look forward to what 2026 brings ā¤ļø

happy new years all

Alright. Not a bad day. But ya girl is tired šŸ˜‚I need to get back to working out again because this whooped me.

Update if you’ve missed them. I have long closed my Airbnb, so we’re using this house how it needs to be used, and trusting the magic of the farm, and making the guest bedroom now the hatchery. This whole cat thing has gotten out of control, as we’re going into season SIX, and I’ve surrendered to the fact we’re growing bigger and better.. we’re taking on more complex cases, but we’re ready for them now. We had our first major panleuk case, and twice- but we were prepared, and handled it without spread. Our favorite a doctor is back working again, and we have things now like kennels and microscopes, we have immensely been able to step up what we do.. yall we went to a national convention this year 😭, and did comic con, and festivals… but through the craziest year we’ve had, we made the absolute best Good Citizen academy graduates known to man.

I do apologize for the 1-4 season folks. Like you guys got GOOD cats, but these? These were all amazinnnnng deans list Good Citizens…

We’re getting bigger, so I’m again giving this to the universe and building a Bebe room. While we could have done an out building - let’s be real, I’m not letting those kids out of my eye sight, and part of what makes them great is that they get to be part of the love and the energy of this farm.

We’re taking the spare room and making it an actual Bebe room, up to the dept of agriculture shelter rules. If we grow, we have the ability to license us as a private shelter. We could also even board cats on the off season, and my mind goes to can we use that for DV survivors who may need their pets taken care of for a few? So this means special floors and walls we can sanitize. So Its a LOT of work, but trusting its worth it…

I have NO idea what the future is going to hold for us. This whole project has been a wild and wonderful endeavor, and we’ve built a cult, I mean, community, along the way. I for one, am going to be selfish a f for a moment, and squeal at the fact that I might get my house SORT of back next year šŸ˜‚ I love having them once they’re grown in the living room, but I neeeed a quarantine space so I won’t have tents hidden in various rooms of the house. And I really, reaaaally want a bathroom to use by my office so I don’t have to sprint across the house between appointments.

This is going to be good. I’m trying to think ahead, but uh, I’ve never built a Bebe room before. So I’m trying to be flexible, and figure out a flow working with what we have, and can re use.

I’m going to have a sink. And FOOT pedals (thank you Dave.) Do you all know how hard it is to bathe a cat on your own, adjust the temp without dropping a soapy cat? You all don’t understand the utter JOY I had at this thought. We’re going to move the dryer in here, our incubator, tool box, kennels we have (see I told you all it’s ALL over my house šŸ˜‚).

It’s going to be a lot of work, but this is going to be a really, really neat year ahead..

Life with Miles: Someone call the aspca. I tried to wake the human up at 545 today because she went to bed early. She clearly doesn’t need to sleep more. She got upset and locked me out of the bedroom so I cried and banged on the door for an HOUR straight with the cries of my people. Doesn’t she understand how much I hate it when she doesn’t wake up when I want her to?

We can finally share something BIG that we’ve been quietly building—and we need your help to help the helpers.

At Miles to Go, we love the bebes. Fiercely. We’re preparing to break ground on our new hatchery in January, but from the very beginning, Miles to Go has always been about more than just the animals in our care.

Our name reflects a truth we all feel. That we still have a long way to go in animal welfare.

And a huge part of that journey is supporting the people doing the work.

What many don’t know is that outside of wrangling tiny kittens, I’m a full-time therapist. I work closely with people on the front lines of animal welfare—rescue, rehab, shelter staff, fosters, veterinarians, volunteers.

And friends… they are exhausted. Burned out. Overwhelmed. Carrying grief, moral injury, compassion fatigue, and responsibility that most people never see behind the scenes.

There are shockingly few mental health supports designed specifically for animal welfare workers. The few that do exist are often prohibitively expensive, especially for rural folks like us.

So we decided to do something about it. We’ve partnered with an incredible clinical team who are also animal advocated that is developing a 10-week, group-therapy-style support program. This program is completely FREE for people working in animal welfare.

I’ve been working with this team since August and will be helping facilitate their second round of research. Beginning in mid January, we’ll be launching online telehealth groups, making this support accessible no matter where someone lives. (Sign-up links will be shared as soon as we receive final approval from the review board.)

The long-term goal is simple and radical: Year-round, free mental health support for people in animal welfare. To give folks a safe space to process, learn coping skills, and carry the emotional weight of this work together—because no one should do this alone.

This project is to help support the helpers so they can keep helping and do the good work our communities so greatly need. All donations received from today to December 31 will be directly put towards this project and furthering their goal.

Thank you all for believing that we can make a world where caring for the animals means also caring for the humans that love them.

What if we lived in a world where we cared about caregiver burnout? Teaching fosters to get support to work through the hard things like moral injury? What if everyone had a wonderful community like you guys to hold them up, even on the hard days….

Just a few more days til the cats out of the bag
