The pups are 3 weeks old and have finished their Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction. This will help create bold and confident little hunters!
ENS and ESI are simple ways to give puppies a head start in life. This process happens between day 3 and day 16 of their lives. The early neurological stimulation (ENS) has the puppies held upright, upside down, on their back, placed on a cold damp towel and a Q-tip between their toes. This stimulation is a way to expose puppies to small challenges so that when they are older, they will be more resilient. ENS builds stress resilience, boosts brain development, creates bold confident dogs, and can improve a puppy's growth, immune, and cardiovascular systems. Early scent introduction (ESI) has some similarities. For this exercise, I choose 14 different scents that can include typical household items, essential oils, herbs, game bird feathers, wood, leather, training equipment, grass, etc. From day 3-16, each puppy is held and able to sniff a different scent. Exposing your puppy to different scents at this age will enhance scenting abilities, improve cognitive function, and create a stable dog as an adult. Both of these are small efforts that make happy, confident dogs.
