This is what desperation looks like and what shelter staff walks into with a sinking heart. This is Bruno’s kennel- a handsome, sweet Doberman who’s so stressed from still being at the shelter that he’s jumping at the walls until his paws bleed. He’s not aggressive. He’s not a “bad dog.” This is the product of kennel stress, loneliness, and frustration. It may not always be so obvious to the public eye since not every dog shows the signs in the same way- some lay in their kennel and do nothing, some stop eating, some may be that “quiet dog” who last week you had no idea was a happy tail thumping fella that wouldn’t sit still.
Fact of the matter is these dogs need out of the shelter. Adding more kennels and housing dogs longer doesn’t solve the problem. It only stretches out their suffering.
The shelter was never meant to be forever. It was only supposed to be a pit stop along the way to happily forever after.
The bad news is- we can’t make the shelter a home BUT the good news is- YOU can help by adopting, fostering, donating, and sharing. Adoption fees reduced this week! We can end this, together.
