My nephew came over tonight to start working with his fair rabbit. He often comes over to help feed the rabbits when I am away. I get a kick out of watching him on the camera feeding the rabbits in his pjs ( just like me btw).

This is his first year and heā€™s just a peewee but we are happy heā€™s giving it a try. He picked out this 10 week old Mini Cal he named Dumpling. šŸ„Ÿ I fear the name might change considering during our practice she went from Hot Sauce, Hot Dog, to Dumplingļæ¼.

Dang summer heat has point marking a lot lighter than normal. This summer litter of mini cals are lighter than I would like. I know they will darken up with age.

Unfortunately, they cannot go live at the AC barn because my mother would definitely overfeed them. Lol ļæ¼

Wellā€¦ sort of. I moved a few of the brood does back to the retired/brood/cull barnā€”also known as Barn 1.

Youā€™ll notice theyā€™re all Californians, and thatā€™s because my mom definitely prefers the Californians over the New Zealands. The New Zealand does usually end up getting ā€œevictedā€ from her barn anyway, so they always find their way back here. šŸ¤£

Thatā€™s okay, though. These four are easy keepers. Theyā€™ve bounced back nicely after raising their litters and have earned a little downtime before theyā€™re bred again.

I like to keep the openings in Barn 2 available for my show stock and grow-outs. Most of my litters are born there as well. My grow-outs and show rabbits require more hands-on care and frequent evaluation, so I prefer having them close by.

Barn 1 is the perfect place for rabbits that just need to relax for a while and donā€™t require as much day-to-day attention. Eventually, Barn 1 will be moved here too, but for now Iā€™m enjoying the extra help. šŸ™‚
