🚨 EXTREME WIND CHILLS — KEEP PETS INDOORS 🚨
With wind chills dropping as low as -10°F to -25°F across Michigan, it’s absolutely critical to keep your pets indoors and safe. These temperatures are dangerous for both humans and animals, and frostbite can begin in just a few minutes. (See Michgan Storm Chasers Graphic from today 12/11/25)
Here’s what you need to know:
🐾 No outdoor time beyond quick bathroom breaks.
Most dogs should only be out 0–5 minutes max.
For puppies, seniors, small breeds, nervous dogs, or dogs with short coats, keep it closer to 0–2 minutes.
🐾 No walks, no outdoor play, no exceptions.
Even “cold-tolerant” breeds can suffer hypothermia or frostbite in this weather.
🐾 Wipe paws and check for ice.
Ice burns and frostbite can happen fast on paw pads, ears, and tails.
🐾 If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
Bring them inside, keep them warm, and make sure they have a safe indoor space to settle.
This extreme cold is temporary — let’s make sure all our pets stay safe, warm, and protected until temperatures rise again. ❤️🐶
