You may have noticed that I have not been posting much recently about upcoming events. To many of you, this next part may come as a surprise, and for that I sincerely apologize.
Dahlie Dog Studios will be taking an indefinite hiatus from professional photography, including both event and portrait work. At this time, there is no planned date for returning.
This decision has not come from a place of disappointment, burnout, or lack of love for the work... Quite the opposite. I am stepping back on a positive note, after five years of doing a job that I have absolutely adored.
I have been deeply blessed by the experiences this business has given me. I have photographed hundreds of breeds, more dog sports than I could ever count, multiple national specialties, celebrity dogs, once-in-a-lifetime moments, and so many creative projects that pushed my skills far beyond what I ever imagined.
Dahlie Dog Studios officially began with a dock diving trial back in North Carolina, and I will always be thankful for the people who supported me from the very beginning - many of whom I am still lucky to call friends today. Since then, this work has taken me all over the United States: from huge metropolis cities, to beautiful wild coastlines and forests, and to so many amazing places in between.
More than anything, it has given me memories and friendships that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
For now, I need to look toward the future and make space for new projects. I am writing a book, raising a new generation of my favorite breed, and hoping to use my time to make a new and meaningful difference in the world.
I cannot thank you all enough for the support, trust, encouragement, and happiness you have given me through this work. Every kind word, every gallery order, every shared post, every dog placed in front of my lens... it has meant more than I can ever properly express.
This is not goodbye to photography forever. I know I will return to my camera gear eventually. But for now, Dahlie Dog Studios is stepping back.
For anyone looking for photos from previous events, most galleries are typically archived, and I can usually access them later. I cannot make any promises, but if there are memories you missed the first time around, you are welcome to reach out and I will do my best to help.
Thank you for five unforgettable years~
With endless gratitude,
Dahlie Dog Studios 💜
