Buddy Update 🐦❤️

Buddy is a little over a week post-surgery and doing AMAZING! The vet says they’re healing wonderfully and are officially done with medication!

Our favorite part? Those tiny baby feathers already starting to sprout! 💕

This is our first time caring for an amputee pigeon, so we’re excited to watch their adorable little nubby wing develop.

Buddy Update 🐦❤️

It’s been 4 days since Buddy’s surgery, and they’re doing great! They’re still on a strict regimen of medication for another week or so, but Buddy is clearly feeling better and is already happy to be back socializing with the flock.

The biggest challenge right now is getting used to being grounded. It hasn’t been easy for Buddy, but we’re working on adapting the rescue to better meet their needs as a one-winged pigeon. Buddy may have a new way of getting around, but nothing is going to stop this brave little bird from enjoying life! ❤️

The next week will be full of rest, medication, and lots of close care as this brave little bird heals. Buddy continues to impress us with their determination, and we're so grateful to everyone who has been following along and cheering them on.

💙 Buddy Update! 🕊️

Buddy continues to impress us every day! This brave, silly little bird is determined to prove that nothing can stop them — and they’re showing us that we absolutely made the right choice choosing surgery. ❤️

We give Buddy the option to stay safely in their cage, but they’ve been choosing to come out every day to hang with the flock. Last night, they decided to take it one step further and ventured into where the people sleep… where they apparently decided sleeping on the bed was the perfect plan! 😂

Here’s Buddy this morning, happily hanging out on the pillow, well-rested and proud of themselves. 🥹

We’re so proud of you, Buddy, and can’t wait to watch you grow into the amazing bird - and someday, amazing pet - we know you’ll be!

🍀 Meet Lucky! 🍀🕊️

Sometimes, a pigeon’s second chance really does come down to luck — and Lucky is living proof. 💚

Lucky is a young racing pigeon who we believe hatched sometime in 2026. Their gender is currently unknown, but what we do know is that they have already experienced more than any young pigeon should.

The life of a racing pigeon can be incredibly difficult. When a pigeon becomes lost, injured, or simply fails to complete a race, they are not always welcomed home. Sadly, many are left behind to fend for themselves. That appears to be Lucky’s story.

But Lucky was, well… lucky. 🍀 They were found by a wonderful pair of parrot rescuers who took them in and made sure they were safe. Recognizing that Lucky needed the companionship of other pigeons and specialized care, they reached out to Pond View Pigeon Rescue.

Lucky is now safe with us, surrounded by pigeon friends who can teach them how to simply be a pigeon — no racing, no expectations, just safety, companionship, good food, and plenty of time to grow.

We don't know exactly what Lucky's future will look like yet, but we know they deserve one filled with love and security. With the right family, we hope Lucky can finally experience what every pigeon deserves: a forever home where they are wanted, valued, and loved for exactly who they are. ❤️

Meet Emery!

Emery is a beautiful young lady, estimated to have hatched in April or May 2026. DNA-tested female, Emery was found on the ground at UMass Amherst with an injured foot. She patiently waited for someone to notice that she needed help, and from the very beginning, she showed us what a sweet and gentle girl she is. 🥹

After completing her rehabilitation, Emery stayed with us here at the rescue aviary, where she is now patiently waiting for her forever home. Originally a wild pigeon, she is still learning that humans can be trusted, but she has already shown us what a wonderful little bird she can be. With love, patience, and a little time, we are confident Emery will continue to blossom and could make a wonderful companion for her person — or a lovely mate for another pigeon. 🥰

Emery is looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let her come out of her shell at her own pace. She may not be a bird who immediately hops onto your hand, but we think watching her learn, grow, and discover the joys of being loved will be incredibly rewarding. ❤️

💙 Meet Buddy. Our newest little fighter. 💙

Buddy is just 3 months old and was found alone and injured in a parking lot. Thankfully, a kind couple noticed that something was wrong and recognized that this little pigeon needed help. They scooped Buddy up, saw the severity of the wing injury, and reached out to us at Pond View Pigeon Rescue.

When Buddy arrived, their wing was in terrible shape — drooping heavily with exposed bone. We were able to get Buddy into the vet quickly, and after an examination, we learned that the best option for Buddy’s quality of life is amputation of the injured wing.

We’re currently working on scheduling Buddy’s surgery, which will need to happen within the next couple of weeks. The estimated cost is $1,200, which is a big expense for our little rescue. But here’s the thing about Buddy: this tiny bird has been a fighter from day one. Despite everything they’ve been through, Buddy has shown us that they have the willpower to live — and we simply couldn’t say no. ❤️

July was a busy month here at Pond View Pigeon Rescue! We were thrilled to see 4 of our rescue pigeons find their forever homes, and we couldn't be more grateful to everyone who chose to adopt.

Now we're hoping to make August even better! We currently have 10 wonderful pigeons patiently waiting for loving homes, each with their own unique personality and story. If you've been thinking about adding a feathered friend to your family, there's never been a better time to apply. Sharing our adoptable birds also makes a huge difference and helps them reach the right people. 🕊️

We almost can't believe we're saying this, but Scuttle - our most well-traveled flock member, certified road trip copilot, and Good Boy pigeon ambassador extraordinaire - has been adopted!

It takes a truly special person to care for Scuttle and his unique needs, and somehow, the perfect family found him. He now gets to enjoy a life filled with love, adventure, and comfort alongside his adopted brother, Mickey (another proud Pond View alum), and we couldn't be happier for them both.

While we'll miss seeing his sweet face every day, we know this was meant to be. Thank you to everyone who cheered Scuttle on throughout his journey, shared his story, and rooted for him to find his happily ever after.
