Behind the scenes at Seven Cedar’s Labradors, the last couple of months have held so much excitement, hope, and now, a little bit of uncertainty. 🤍🐾
This summer, Georgia came into heat, was bred for her very first litter, and then came the long wait to find out whether our girl was expecting. Yesterday, we finally received the news we had been hoping for — Georgia is pregnant. 🥹🤍
However, our ultrasound appears to show just one little puppy. While ultrasound isn’t always exact when it comes to puppy counts, at this time we are preparing for the possibility that Georgia is carrying a singleton puppy.
As excited and thankful as we are to have a pregnancy, this isn’t the outcome we had hoped for Georgia’s first litter. Singleton pregnancies can come with additional risks and complications for both mom and puppy, which means the next few weeks will involve extra monitoring, testing, appointments, and a whole lot of watching our girl closely.
We truly cannot thank the incredible team at Waterville Veterinary Clinic enough for helping us monitor Georgia throughout this process and for continuing to keep a close eye on her as we approach her due date during the first week of September. Having people we trust helping us through this means more than we can say. 🤍
To everyone who has been patiently waiting on Georgia’s waitlist, we are incredibly sorry that we may not have the puppies we all hoped for this time around. At this point, Georgia and her puppy have to be our number one priority. For those who would like to remain on our waitlist for a future litter, we would absolutely love to keep you there and will be in touch as we know more about our future plans.
For now, our only wish is to get one healthy, happy little baby safely into this world while keeping our Georgia girl healthy and happy, too. 🐾
The next couple of weeks come with a lot of unknowns, testing, and careful monitoring, so please keep Georgia and her little singleton in your thoughts. 🤍
Sometimes breeding doesn’t go according to the plan we pictured — and this is one of those moments where everything else gets put aside and we simply focus on taking care of the mama and little life in front of us.
One tiny heartbeat. One very loved mama. And a whole lot of hope. 🤍🐾
