The Brandywine Valley SPCA leads the way in no-kill open admission sheltering with progressive programs and services. Founded in 1929, the BVSPCA is the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve no-kill status and serves as the only open admission shelter in both Chester and Delaware Counties. In Delaware, the BVSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization and the only no-kill ope

n admission shelter, providing state-wide care for lost and found dogs. In 2018, the BVSPCA led Delaware to becoming the first no-kill state in the country.

Congratulations to Officer Jacqlyn Kissell for being sworn in this week as a Humane Society Police Officer in Chester County! 🎉 Officer Kissell’s dedication to animal welfare and her commitment to our community are truly inspiring. Since starting as a member of our Animal Protective Services team just this August 2024, Officer Kissell has already been involved in saving the lives of many local animals in need. Join us in congratulating her on completing her HSPO training, and her swearing-in this week. We are excited to see the positive impact she will continue to make in her new role and wish her the best as she embarks on this lifesaving journey! 🐾

Meet Jahan! 😍 This large, handsome dog is ready for his forever family to adopt him. He is dog-friendly and enjoys time with his new friends here in the play yards. He is sweet and social and does well with new people. Jahan is house and crate trained. This 4-year-old boy loves long walks, playing with toys, and hanging out with his people. 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹
Nearly two dozen animals, mostly cats, along with two dogs were found living in horrible conditions in a home in Kent County, Delaware.
It took several dedicated Delaware Animal Services officers from Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) Office of Animal Welfare hours to safely rescue each of these furry survivors from an environment plagued by filth and dangerous air quality, and transport them to the safety of our Animal Rescue Center.
Once they arrived, the healing began. Our veterinary and care teams welcomed them with soft voices, gentle hands, and the promise of something better. Each animal was examined, treated for medical issues, and given the promise of a new future.

𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣
Your support provides food, medicine, and the healing space for animals in desperate need. It provides resources for these 20+ souls and the more than 55 each day who walk through our doors in need of care, support, kindness, and a place to stay until their new life can begin. Together, we can give them all the future they were meant to have—because every life matters, and every animal deserves a second chance.

Help cut down on the number of unwanted kitten litters in the community by bringing community cats in for spay/neuter and vaccinations. Appointments are OPEN for our locations in New Castle, Dover, and Georgetown. Trap and bring cats living outside in your area for this service. 🐈 PLEASE SHARE! 🐈‍⬛

UPDATE: Mabel and her two puppies have found loving homes and we are over the moon excited at the amazing response we had for them. We hope anyone interested will consider adopting another deserving pup!

ADORABLE ALERT! 😍 Mabel and her two puppies, Myra and Belle, are finally ready for homes of their own. Mabel arrived in our care just days before delivering her two puppies. 🐶 Our dedicated team and amazing foster have been caring for Mabel, Myra, and Belle since they came into the world in April, and now, they are finally healthy and ready to meet their new families. ❤ Run, don't walk, to meet these adorable squishie puppies and quiet mama at our Animal Rescue Center in Georgetown! 🥰 Mabel is a loving mama who is about a year old, while her puppies are just 2 months old. Stop by the ARC to learn more about how you can welcome one of these sweethearts into your family. You'll definitely fall in love! We open on Tuesday at noon.
