Help us Make the Makeover!
Give for one, give to all: your contribution to an individual trainer fundraiser (such as myself) through the 2025 Make the Makeover campaign can help Trainers like me earn refunded entry fees, AND help produce the biggest movement in Thoroughbred aftercare: the Thoroughbred Makeover.

I am so thankful to The Thoroughbred Makeover for providing a space to showcase the diversely talented thoroughbred. This competition has provided me with goals and daily motivation for many years now. Other than producing this competition, the Retired Racehorse Project also fosters educational tools for thoroughbred trainers, created a thoroughbred marketplace and conducts clinics and seminars throughout the country.

Sibelius is a wonderful example of the good that exists in this industry. After winning multiple Graded Stakes races and earning over $1.8 million dollars, a small injury made his future as a racehorse unclear. Sibelius was graciously retired and has begun his next career. We will put a solid foundation on him as a riding horse and let him tell us which specialty suits him best. Please support the organization that really lets these horses shine and brings great value to the Thoroughbred breed after racing.

All eligible trainers who raise $1,000 or more through peer-to-peer fundraising for the RRP will earn the $350 refund. Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, the following additional prizes will be available to the top three trainers who raise the most funds:

1st place: 52” Exmark Radius S Zero Turn Mower from Equine Equipment (~$10,000 value)

2nd place: HERO Pico PEMF machine and accessory bundle by Magnus Magnetica (~$4000 value). The benefits of Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF) systems for horses include improved circulation and enhanced recovery in addition to being a non-invasive treatment that stimulates cellular repair.

3rd place: $500 cash prize from the RRP

The training competition begins next week on the 8th of October and this fundraising event closes the next day, Wednesday the 9th. Help Sibelius and I to win a PEMF machine to bring home to all the O'Dwyer Racing thoroughbreds to enjoy!

Also peep that top of the line saddle from truly needed to free up his shoulder and keep him moving freely.

Sibelius and I are really starting to focus on the dressage now as the Makeover looms closer. That means more lessons with Reese Koffler Stanfield and horse shows on the horizon. So thankful to finally find a saddle that fits his big round shoulders! I am loving this Arion dressage saddle, it’s super lightweight, balanced and free’s up his shoulder. If anyone has questions about it please reach out!

Special full circle moment!
Sibelius traveled for his first dressage lesson with Reese this week. He was the ultimate professional. We got lots of homework to take home but feeling very pleased with how far we’ve come. All of us have benefited from the amazing products of Kentucky Performance Products. 💪🏼🙂❤️

After dominating in Leadline on Saturday, Sibelius conquered his first dressage show. He exceeded all expectations and won both of his Intro tests. 🤩 Now we plan to work hard on all things cantering related so we can show training level next time out. 💪🏼

First time in the show ring and I was piloted by the ever experienced 4 year old, Adelaide O’Dwyer. We dominated Leadline and came home with a medal! 💪🏼🥇

We’ve been very quiet on here while making some life adjustments. After entirely packing up everything in south Florida the whole crew has made it up to Lexington, KY. We’ve been busy settling in and getting going. Get ready for a flood the of pictures and updates to return. ✌🏼😄

We have set up a page in Sibelius’s honor where people can donate to The Retired Racehorse Project. They create huge demand for ex-racehorses every year through their Thoroughbred Makeover competition. We are thankful to have such a great goal for Sibelius in his first year of retirement.

And AWAY WE GO! It’s officially official, the email has arrived. We have been accepted into the 2025 Thoroughbred Makeover. We will work diligently throughout the year in preparation for the big stage in Lexington KY come October.
