It takes a community to keep rescue work going. 🐾

Every single day, we go through more food, litter, cleaning supplies, and medical care than most people realize. The behind-the-scenes costs add up fast… but the impact of helping these cats makes every bit of it worth it.

That ongoing support takes real pressure off of us and helps make sure we can continue showing up for these cats every single day. HELP! We’re running low on dry food.

Stepping Stones Cat Rescue is currently in need of cat food donations.

As a small rescue, food is one of our largest ongoing expenses. Every can and every bag makes a direct impact on the cats in our care... many of whom came from neglect, abandonment, or unsafe environments and are now getting a second chance at life.

We were incredibly fortunate to recently be connected with litter donations from Pioneer Pet Products. Support from companies like them truly makes a difference. Their generosity helps small rescues like ours continue the mission and allows us to focus more resources on food, medical care, and finding permanent homes.

We have a big problem and we need help!

Right now, Stepping Stones Cat Rescue is dealing with a widespread ear mite outbreak 😭
Our vet has recommended Revolution Plus as the most effective and safest treatment. To fully eliminate ear mites and prevent reinfestation, each cat requires TWO treatments.
We currently have 56 cats in our care.
That means we need 112 doses total.
Cost Breakdown:
• Estimated cost per dose of Revolution Plus: ~$30
• Doses needed: 112
• Total estimated cost: ~$3,360
This cost is just for the medication itself and does not include additional vet visits or treatment if cats develop ear infections or complications from excessive scratching.
Ear mites are incredibly uncomfortable and spread fast in rescue environments. Left untreated, they can lead to infections, hearing issues, and ongoing pain. This is something we need to address immediately to protect every cat in our care.
💔 As a small, grassroots rescue, we don’t have a large emergency medical fund for situations like this.

One of the hardest parts of running a small rescue isn’t the daily care… it’s the unexpected.

At Stepping Stones Cat Rescue, vet bills don’t come neatly scheduled. They show up suddenly... an emergency infection, an injured stray, a sick kitten that can’t wait. And when you’re operating on a very limited budget, those moments can feel overwhelming.

We don’t have large grants or deep financial backstops. What we have is commitment.

When a cat needs help, we don’t ask if it’s convenient... we ask what’s right. And almost always, that means saying yes… even when we’re unsure how the bill will get paid afterward.

That’s the reality of grassroots rescue work. The need is constant. The margins are thin. And one unexpected vet visit can strain everything.

Stepping Stones Cat Rescue started with one simple belief:

This year alone, we’ve taken in cats and kittens who were abandoned, sick, starving, or simply forgotten. We’ve helped senior cats get out of the cold. We’ve nursed injured adults back to health.
