💙 This Father’s Day weekend was extra meaningful for us!

For the first time, Unleashed Manners, the Waushara County Animal Shelter (WCAS), and H&N Homestead were able to meet IN PERSON! 🎉

For those who are new here, Unleashed Manners has an incredible partnership with WCAS, and BOTH Unleashed Manners and WCAS are proud ambassadors for H&N Homestead. That means not only do our client dogs get to enjoy some of the highest-quality, single-ingredient treats available, but the cats and dogs at WCAS get spoiled with these amazing products, too! 🐶🐈❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Hailey & Nolan for making the trip to Wautoma, dropping off incredible goodies for the shelter animals, and taking the time to connect with us in person. ✨ Client Success Story: GINGER! ✨

When Ginger first came to us, she struggled with confidence and could be timid around new people and other dogs. Her family wanted to help her feel more secure, comfortable, and successful in the world around her.

Today, Ginger is a completely different dog. 🐾

“She listens beautifully, behaves confidently in public, and approaches new people, dogs, and experiences with a calm, happy attitude. Watching her grow into the amazing companion she is today has been incredibly rewarding.”

“She truly has become the most amazing dog, and we’re so proud of how far she has come. None of this would have been possible without the dedication, patience, and expertise of Ryan at Unleashed Manners.”

Every dog deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and every owner deserves the confidence that comes with having a well-mannered companion by their side.

Thank you, Ginger’s family, for trusting us with her journey. We’re so proud of everything she’s accomplished! 🥹

If you’re wondering whether your dog can make progress too—the answer is YES! With the right guidance, patience, and training plan, amazing transformations are possible! ♥️

Did you know that most dog bites involving children happen in their own home and are caused by the family’s own dog?

Dogs are loyal, loving companions and can be wonderful with children. But every dog, regardless of breed, size, or temperament, has the potential to bite if they feel scared, stressed, startled, or uncomfortable.

The good news? Many bites are preventable through education, supervision, and teaching children how to respectfully interact with dogs.

Here are a few of the most important lessons every family should know:

🐶 Never leave young children and dogs unsupervised.
Even the gentlest dog can react unexpectedly. Adult supervision is the best way to prevent accidents and ensure positive interactions.

🐶 Teach children to respect a dog’s space.
Dogs need a safe place to rest and decompress. Teach children not to bother a dog while they’re sleeping, eating, chewing a toy, or resting in their designated safe space.

🐶 No hugs, roughhousing, or face-to-face interactions.
Many dogs do not enjoy being hugged, having their ears or tails pulled, or having a child’s face close to theirs. What looks cute in a photo can sometimes make a dog uncomfortable.

🐶 Help children learn dog body language.
A relaxed dog typically has a loose body, soft expression, and relaxed tail wag. Signs a dog may be stressed include lip licking, yawning, turning away, growling, showing teeth, a tucked tail, flattened ears, stiff posture, or trying to move away.

🐶 Teach calm, gentle interactions.
Encourage children to pet dogs gently on the chest, shoulders, or back. Running, screaming, grabbing, or rough play can overwhelm even a well-behaved dog.

🐶 Strange dogs require extra caution.
Children should never approach a dog without first asking the owner for permission. If permission is given, they should approach slowly and calmly and allow the dog to sniff them before petting.

Dogs and children can have incredible lifelong friendships when we teach both sides how to succeed. Safety isn’t about fear—it’s about understanding, respect, and creating positive experiences for everyone involved.

❤️ The best way to prevent a dog bite is through education. If you found this helpful, please share it with other dog families and parents.

Every family deserves a safe, happy bond between their kids and dogs. If you need guidance with training, boundaries, or dog behavior, contact Unleashed Manners Dog Training—we’re here to help.

At Unleashed Manners, the safety and well-being of every dog in our care is something we take seriously—and we believe continuing education is an important part of that commitment.

Many of our clients know Dani as our Marketing & Public Relations Director, but what they may not know is that she also serves as a co-instructor for Canine First Aid & CPR through the Winnegamie Dog Club. Several times each year (and often more), Dani helps teach dog owners and canine professionals the skills needed to recognize emergencies, provide first aid, and perform CPR when every second counts.

Today, she had the opportunity to teach a wonderful group of ladies from Women Who Explore SW Wisconsin. Watching dedicated dog owners invest their time in learning these lifesaving skills is always inspiring.

Want to be prepared for a canine emergency?

Join Dani for the next Canine First & Aid CPR class on Saturday, July 18th! 🐾❤️

⭐️Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest Board & Train client at Unleashed Manners: Maddie! ⭐️

Maddie is an 8-month-old German Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix packed with all the puppy energy you could imagine! 🚀🐾

This little pocket rocket has joined us for our Board & Train program to continue building on her already great training foundation while tackling all things puppy.

Specifically, Maddie will be working on leash manners, threshold manners, and building confidence around other dogs. With her eagerness to learn and a serious love for treats, Ryan and Maddie are already off to an awesome start together. 🍖✨

While she loves soaking up training sessions, Maddie’s favorite pastime might just be playing with the Unleashed Manners crew! This fun-loving girl is big on affection, even bigger on playtime, and always ready to bring her infectious energy wherever she goes. 🥰🐕

We are so excited to help Maddie continue growing into a confident, well-mannered companion and can’t wait to watch her progress over the coming weeks. We have a feeling this sweet, spunky girl is going to make quite the impression while she’s here! ❤️

Interested in learning more about our training programs? We are currently booking out to Late Fall of 2026!

Did you know that watermelon can be a safe and refreshing treat for many dogs? On those hot summer days, frozen watermelon cubes are a great way to offer your pup a cool snack while adding a little extra hydration! 😋

When preparing watermelon for your dog, be sure to:
✅ Remove all seeds
✅ Remove the rind
✅ Cut the fruit into small, bite-sized pieces
✅ Freeze before serving for a refreshing summer treat

As with all treats, watermelon should be offered in moderation as part of a balanced diet. Introducing any new food gradually is always a good idea, especially for dogs with sensitive stomachs!

‼️Most importantly, always supervise your dog while they enjoy frozen treats to help prevent choking and ensure they are eating safely. ‼️

Has your dog tried frozen watermelon before? We’d love to hear if it’s one of their favorite summertime snacks! 🍉🐶

Now that you’ve made it to the captions, let’s talk about fireworks & dogs. 🧨

The Fourth of July can be incredibly stressful for dogs, and the best time to prepare is now—not the day before.

🐾 Talk to your vet early
If your dog has a history of anxiety or noise sensitivity, contact your veterinarian well before the holiday. Some dogs may benefit from calming medications, but these require advanced planning.

🏠 Create a safe space
Set up a quiet, secure area where your dog can retreat during fireworks. If you use a crate, make sure it’s already a positive, familiar space before the holiday arrives.

Keep the crate simple—avoid blankets, toys, or other items that could become a chewing, choking, or obstruction risk if your dog becomes stressed.

🔒 Check your escape routes
Before fireworks begin, double-check doors, windows, gates, and fences. Frightened dogs may panic and attempt to escape, even if they’ve never done so before.

A little preparation now can make a big difference in keeping your dog safe, calm, and secure during unpredictable noise events.

How are you preparing your dog for the upcoming holiday? Share below! 👇🏼
