Looks like the “Inn” is full and travel agents are being contacted. 🤣😂
This isn’t bearding just for temperature control. It’s also overcrowding. Highly productive hives being trapped inside with extensive rain never bodes well. These hives have already produced over 100lbs each of honey this season and the extracted frames I put back on May 10th are full again. Both supers are full of honey now. They realize their overcrowding and quickly go into swarm mode after a long rainy period. They are drawing out queen cells now so splitting is the priority at this time.
My “Bee Warehouse Management” solution is to split half of them in each yard and add two more extracted supers of comb to each of the other half.

Get some from either Outpost Oconee or The Krimson Kafe in Downtown Watkinsville. You can also pick it up during daylight hours any day of the week from my Porch Stand on Harden Hill Rd.🍯🐝

Don’t miss the 2026 Georgia Bushcraft Spring Campout - April 17-19. 🐝

It’s warming up, and spring is just around the corner. It’s a great time to camp, but you also have to remember that the shoulder seasons can be temperamental and a warm afternoon can quickly fade into a cold, damp night.

Just a few days ago it was in the 70’s in the Oconee County bee yards. Tonight and tomorrow night is going to be in the 20’s. Not a good temperature swing for bees.

For those that want to waterproof any of your Bushcraft gear I will have plenty of pure beeswax available at the Georgia Bushcraft LLC 2025 Fall Gathering on November 7th, 8th and 9th.
