It is with the heaviest heart trying to make this post, but I feel compelled to keep our RWBF followers informed. There are the greatest rewards, smiles, and joy with breeding. However, there are also some unfortunate disappointments, lows, and pure heartbreak as well. As hard as these last few days have been, it is with such sadness that I let you all know that Maui had her C-section, we do not have any puppies. As you know Maui had a severe allergic reaction to her stitches from her AI procedure, not once, but twice which started a rough few weeks of her incision reopening, more stitches, crate rest, etc. Finally, once healed, we thought everything was good to go. She had her ultrasound, where we saw 3 puppies, and the doctor thought there was probably more hiding. Then 3 weeks later, Maui had her Xray and there was only 1 puppy days before labor should start. On Friday, 5/8 she had her C-section and the one puppy was delivered. However, the phone call you never wanted to get from the doctor in the operating room and hearing her uterus was not well, she had clots on one of the two veins that was not anticipated, and she needed to be spayed right then to get the bleeding stopped. Then learning the one puppy, who was the most gorgeous little merle girl I have ever seen, wouldn't make it to have a healthy life. From the highest of highs with excitement we have had, to the lowest of lows with heartbreak. Keep Maui Jane in your thoughts and prayers for healing during her recovery and as she grieves not having a pup to care for. Thank you all for your support and understanding.
