Another productive day at Solace Farms. The pasture got expanded a bit, another doorway made for the horses in the lean to. And Gabe got to go out with Raven and Meiko. He's happy. Flora's still getting used to her emotional support horse not being in her pen with her.

It is so nice to be able to hop on Flora and ride down the road again. She's still on the mend with her suspensory injury, but I can tell she's feeling good. ❤️

I got the opportunity to visit the World Equestrian Center in Ocala yesterday. It was as amazing as I had expected it to be!
There were some small hunter and jumper shows I got to watch in some of the many, many arenas. I met an 11 week old pot belly pig on a leash.
Doing some R & D for Solace Farms!

Sometimes, when you want something so bad and try for so long to make it happen, all it takes is letting go.
I had looked for a farm for so long and finally let go, thinking it wasn't going to happen. And I was ok with that. I figured maybe I was supposed to go in a different direction for a while.
The universe responded that that was not the case. I found the home for Solace Farms, and everything happened so quickly. It was set up for cows, not horses. So we got the horse area set up in under a week, and I brought them over yesterday. They all moved so well and are happy to be out here.
Grateful doesn't feel like a strong enough word for all of this. I am beyond grateful for this amazing place. I am beyond grateful for all of the help and my friends who've been there for me. This is a very bittersweet time right now, but sometimes you need to let go of what is holding you back.
Now that the horses are moved, I need to pack and move everything for me and my boys and my indoor pets. There's still so much to do, but I can't wait to share this all with you.

All 4 horses got their hooves trimmed today by the fabulous Arthur! It was the first time I've had all 4 tied together and they all did great!

Good info for the poor air quality we've been having.
🔥 Wildfire Smoke & Horse Health 🐴💨
As wildfire season heats up, so does the risk of poor air quality — not just for us, but for our horses too. Smoke from wildfires can irritate a horse's respiratory system and cause fatigue, coughing, difficulty breathing, etc.
You can monitor air quality at www.airnow.gov. During periods of poor air quality, you can protect your horse by:
🐎 Limiting exercise
💧 Providing fresh water
💦 Controlling dust such as watering dry lots and soaking or feeding dust-free hay
🕰 Allowing time for recovery: airway damage from wildfire smoke takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal after air quality returns to normal.

What a beautiful day for a 2 hour lesson. The horses were happy to be out too!

It was a beautiful day to watch skijoring at Canterbury and to celebrate one of my favorite students' birthdays. Happy birthday Isla!
We had a lot of fun watching the activities and chatting!

It's warmed up to a balmy -11 in Minnesota. The lows overnight were -45 windchills! The sun sure helps it feel nicer than it is.

I have loved horses as long as I can remember; always jumping at any opportunity to be around them. Every birthday party was spent riding trails with friends. When I turned 12, I was able to volunteer at Diamond T Ranch taking out trails. I would bike 5 miles every other day to get there.
Eventually I bought Chardonnay, my first horse, from there when I was 15. He taught me so much! He was a flea bitten gray Arabian who was so sweet. He would run up to me in the pasture when I’d call his name. But he also had a stubborn side to him! We got into many arguments when I was younger because I wanted him to do something he didn’t want to do.
Looking back, there is so much I would have done differently. I couldn’t afford lessons, so everything was self taught and learned through reading.
I want to help you better communicate with your horse to create the best possible relationship with them. Chardonnay and I had a relationship like no other, but looking back I see there was a lot I missed.
Since owning him I have worked with hundreds of different horses and in many different barns and disciplines. I am constantly learning and improving my horsemanship. Having worked with them for over 25 years, I have a good variety of experience to share with you to help you communicate better with your equine friend.
