Our story began in 2024, when we bought a dehydrator and started making single-ingredient treats for our dogs — ABBA, Kane, and Snickers. We wanted to know exactly what we were feeding them, with no additives, fillers, or preservatives — just simple, wholesome goodness. In 2025, our love for healthy, honest dog treats grew into something bigger, and Backcountry Barks was officially born! Since the
n, we’ve expanded beyond single-ingredient treats to include minimal-ingredient biscuits and handcrafted dog gear and accessories, all made with care and attention to detail. We’re proud to source our ingredients locally within the state of Iowa, partnering with trusted farmers and suppliers who share our passion for quality and sustainability. By keeping our ingredients local, we’re able to ensure freshness, support our community, and reduce our environmental pawprint. When we’re not in the kitchen or workshop, our family loves spending time outdoors. You’ll often find us hiking, camping, visiting farmers markets, fishing, and exploring Iowa and beyond with our two sons and our pups by our side. It’s truly heartwarming to see so many dogs enjoying our treats and gear as we continue to grow.
