We can't do it all ourselves
We raise and care for horses in a community
Sometimes we got it and sometimes we just need someone to lean on, like Lolly pop the mini in the picture above.
You ever just slouch over onto your manicure specialist while getting a relaxing hand massage?.....
Yeay, me neither! I don't go to get a manicure
And slouching would be awkward🙃
But Lolly Pop is chill, super happy here, just relaxed and calm
I've got ya girl, you want hot pink or sassy red to finish it off!!
Doesn't go as well with drafts, but they've tried it😆

If not properly cared for with regular trimming and correct footing/ diet they can get pretty bad like in the first photo, grossly degraded frog
Other photos are of a small herd of ass, who have been regularly trimmed/attended and have healthy feet
Of course metabolics, history, conformation, the weather, bad attitudes, disciplines, heritage, hay sugar content, color of their coat, herd relationships and how much time they spend on their cell phone (ok I got carried away) can all be factors in hoof health
But us farriers attribute most of the condition of the hoof to trimming, terrain and diet

She's what got me going on barefoot trimming
Still sound and spunky 2 years later
Needed to tailor to her needs as she is now in her 20's!

My Missouri Fox Trotter, Sunshine
Notice the imbalance on the hide lateral (outer) side of hoof
She always wears this way, so I bring her down most of the way but not completely as it is the way she wears and I want to keep a modicum of her bodies natural forming/wearing of the hoof

When I first started trimming Boo he was a bit of a mess, a few weeks past
With drafts it only takes a short time for their feet to get w***y
Cracks, chips, flares
Ruffled chips
I love when he's done
Neat, tidy, clean, ship shape, well rounded, organized

Me- hot, sweaty, red faced, but usually satisfied.... always a little more touch would do!
