Dozer was a long time client & connoisseur of canned Pedigree. Sadly Dozer crossed the Rainbow Bridge this past week . He was a great dog, the best battle buddy, & he loved his veteran human very much . RIP You will be missed Dozer. We have your humans' six from here.

Wow! Many Thanks to Lisa Collins for these 4 toasty warm sleeping bags she donated to help our homeless vets. I should have posted yesterday, I apologize for the late acknowledgement.

YIPPEE!! HUGE Thanks to Jamie & Ali Bergeron for donating the gift card that made our final shelving unit possible. Jamie & Ali have been outstanding supporters of the pantry since our infancy 6 years ago & I deeply appreciate them. I should have posted this yesterday, I apologize for the late acknowledgement.

Woo Hoo! Many Thanks to The Hyde family of Alfred for these 2 outstanding tents they donated to help our homeless veterans.

Heroes come in all forms. Ruth & Steve Lucarelli are heroes to me. Every Friday since January Ruth & Steve have arrived at my door with this exact load of food & beverages for our homeless veterans. They have come through snow, rain, wind, & even health issues. They never miss a week - they are truly amazing & appreciated more than I can express.

Our next distribution is scheduled for this coming Wednesday the 13th and we need your help! We have plenty of small bags of dry cat food but we are in need of larger bags of dry cat food (12 lbs or more). Please consider donating some larger bags of dry cat food. Donations can be shipped directly to us at 238 Old Alfred Road, East Waterboro or they can be dropped off at our location any time. Thank you all for your help. ~ Nadine

We have some very sad news , Nadine’s aunt Charlotte passed away suddenly at home this afternoon . She was often with Nadine and Nika at the pet pantry events . Charlotte loved doing these events and helping with the pet pantry . We ask the you give Nadine time to grieve and take care of family matters at this time. If you have an emergency please message me , Journey at 207-286-7366 . I will post more when I have more information, and remember to Love your Life.

So much has been happening here! Due to space & time constraints as well as logistics we have consolidated the Backpacks for Homeless Dogs operations into the No Bowl Empty 2 Pet Food Pantry. Journey has been extremely busy with her providing direct community outreach through her It takes a village program and the program takes a lot of her limited space. Since the pet food is already at Nadine's for the pet food pantry it only made sense to combine the 2 programs into one location. If you have not checked out and "Liked" the No Bowl Empty 2 page please head over, LIKE us and FOLLOW us to stay up on all we are doing. No Bowl Empty Pet Food Pantry 2 Nadine has been very busy doing events and fundraisers, we are coming into the long, cold winter when demand will increase substantially so please consider donating.

When it is late afternoon/early evening & MHVA finds out about a veteran living in his car with no food, there is no such thing as waiting until tomorrow. Our team mobilized right away, Journey put a sleeping bag, lantern & other supplies together, Nadine put together food, beverages, blankets & some personal hygiene items, and Kevin, our leader & road warrior, made trips to both Journey & Nadine's then went to the veteran. To the people who donated the supplies we use - Thank you, your donations were a direct lifeline to a veteran last night. To the folks considering donating or on the fence about it - we could use your support, there are many more veterans, brothers in arms, who need our help. Maine Homeless Veterans Alliance. (We were not certain if the veteran had any pets with him so Nadine also provided a backpack of pet supplies).

Anyone make braided fleece dog toys like these? We could use as many as you would like to donate (especially for large dogs). We put one in each of the backpacks for homeless dogs.

The end of eviction moratorium is having a significant impact on our pet food pantry with more families experiencing financial strain.
Add to that the predicted pet food shortage with many businesses already experiencing supply difficulties. We have had to temporarily increase our distribution days to accommodate the need. As of tonight we have 57 cans of PATE canned cat food, which will not last more than one (two at most) distribution day. We could use your help! Please consider donating PATE formula canned cat food (brands are not important). You can drop them off to us any day/ any time at 238 Old Alfred Road, East Waterboro or you can have it sent directly to us from Chewy or Amazon to 238 Old Alfred Road, East Waterboro ME 04030. If it is easier to donate money and have me do the shopping that is wonderful too! Thank you - I greatly appreciate you all. ****This is not post to express your political beliefs regarding the eviction moratorium, this is strictly about need. We are judgement free. Comments violating our judgement free policy will be deleted.

Everyone knows that Subaru has the BEST commercials and it is well known the the folks at Pape Subaru are pet lovers, so we are so grateful to them for this amazing pet food drive. We are excited to work with them and looking forward to our event at their location at 2065 Broadway in South Portland on Saturday August 14th from 10am to 3pm. Nika has been saving her special tutu just for this event. Remember to do business with the businesses that give back to the community.

Six Dog Food Brands Recalled Due to Dangerous Mold Toxin

Here we go again! Another dog food recall involving multiple brands including Evolve & Triumph. The one is for high levels of aflatoxin which is created by mold from rotten corn (which basically means the manufacturer used rotten corn to make the food & Plowed it to go to market 😡). Please check the list carefully & your dog food supply. Follow the recall closely, typically recalls expand to include more brands & formulas in the days & weeks following the initial recall.

We have been blessed by so many wonderful friends with food donations and we are extremely grateful. Now I need to do the unpleasant task of asking for financial donations. The reality is we need money to continue doing what we do, to cover standard cost of business expenses. We have a busy event season which means printed materials (I do as many and as much as possible on my home printer but some things need to be professionally printed), we need new banners and some "Enter" & "Exit" signs at the pantry for the safety of our clients. I run the pantry as bare bones as possible but no organization can run expense free. Our latest fundraiser while a lot of fun is not generating the interest and donations I hoped for. If half of our followers donated $10 or $20 each our expenses would be covered and we would have a small cushion for the unexpected. I know you have a lot of groups and organizations pleading for your donation and I know everyone has less expendable income. With the pandemic came a greater need for our services and we met those needs but it strained our resources immensely. So when you are deciding where to donate your hard earned money we would be most grateful if you thought of No Bowl Empty 2 / Backpacks for Homeless Dogs.

I have search for over a week to find this cat’s family and have had no success. Sadly last Wednesday a caring motorist discover this sweet cat had been hit by a car on Route 202 in Hollis by Clark’s Farm Road. This wonderful person not only moved kitty out of the road but took kitty to a veterinary facility to be scanned for a microchip & receive appropriate handling. I was so hoping this cat’s family could be found so it could have a name & be remembered. With no owner found, I have named this kitty, Saturn because of the ring around the tail and a memorial stone has been placed in the Memorial Garden at No Bowl Empty 2 Pet Food Pantry/Backpacks for homeless dogs in Standish. RIP Saturn.
How/where can I donate dog food?
It was an honor interviewing Journey and telling her story!
We ordered cat food/litter treats on Amazon. Anticipated delivery 4/25 and 5/7. Thank you for your amazing work.
So we are almost at the middle of August, I am starting to notice a change in the leaves and as much as I hate to rush our beautiful summer months it is time to start thinking about the cold winters months. Again this year, as I did the past 2 years, we are collecting warm winter items for our friends at Maine Homeless Veterans Alliance to distribute to the homeless and their pets. Here is a list of the items we will be collecting: Hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, socks, pullover or zipper hoodies, sweaters, coats, blankets, hand warmers, pet coats (particularly medium and large), pet boots, paw salve (like Mushers Secret), small flashlights, batteries, backpacks they can fill with items and sleeping bags. MHVA has also said they have a need for gift cards to Dunkin Donuts, Aroma Joe's, Cumberland Farms, McDonald's, Burger King, etc in small denominations that they can pass out for the homeless to get a warm drink or bite to eat.
