Have you cleaned your horse's hooves and noticed an awful garbarge smell? If so, you're probably dealing with thrush, a common bacterial disease of horses' hooves. If left untreated, thrush can lead to deterioration of the soft tissues (e.g., the frog), lameness, and a great deal of pain for your horse.

With all the rain we've had, it can be difficult to prevent thrush, but the following tips should help:
- clean your horse's hooves every day
- try to keep your horse on dry ground
- keep a regular trim schedule with your farrier.
