One night. One farm. We managed to recover two deer. The first had a low gut shot, about 36 hours old, with no arrow or blood in sight. Spud picked up the trail, and after about 300 yards, we found the deer. The second deer's shot location was unknown, roughly 6 hours post-shot, and like the first, there was no blood or arrow.Usually, we'd wait longer, but since we were already there, we decided to take a look. Spud tracked it about 400 yards to a cut cornfield, where we found the deer bedded down, still alive. We backed out quietly, and the hunters were able to recover it from its bed the next morning.
