This is one reason among many that I consider 'animals, especially domestic dogs, cats, a gift from the Creator to humans'......
"This is my son Lucas and his dog Max. This picture is two years old but is still my favorite. Lucas is slightly on the spectrum and has a hard time interacting with people. Max is an abused rescue dog who we saved from a life of mistreatment, which caused him to fear human touch, except for Lucas. They are best friends. Max is Luke's protector. They have taught each other so much. About trust, about love, about companionship. It's amazing to watch them together."

Totally unacceptable......
I am as disturbed as you all are by the footage that has been released of a dog being forced into churning water on a movie set despite visible signs that the dog is uncomfortable. I have no issue with dogs being used in films as long as they are truly enjoying the work, and as a member of the Humane Hollywood Scientific Advisory Committee, I know that the American Humane Association takes great care in ensuring the safety of animals during production and they will get to the bottom of what happened here. That said, it's particularly important that trainers using animals in films hold themselves to the very highest standards of humane care. Anything less than 100% attention to an animal's physical and emotional well-being is unacceptable - and this is unacceptable.

We all need to be aware of the needless pain we humans inflict on helpless animals.....there are humane ways to kill them (only if necessary) Why don't we use them?
They are mercilessly jabbed with high amperage electric prods into metal cages, then lowered into a gas chamber where they scream, thrash, kick and struggle to escape as their lungs fill with gas that burns them from the inside out.

Training puppy tips....
Part of training is consistency and repetition. After several weeks I still review several cues with my students to keep them sharp.
One of my goals was to teach them to 'wait' in a 'down' position which is very hard for some dogs especially puppies. Yesterday we got there! (Even 'Missy' their big sis barking didn't distract them)
Daily walking is basic dog care....it's healthy for your dog and you.....
Keep in mind when you travel with your dog they are out of their normal environment and sometimes they will react by not eating, anxious or even doing potty inside. This is usually temporary and be patient until they adjust. Our Suki reacts by not eating and playing with her food. (On road trips)
Socialing your puppy/dog is part of training a well behaved pet. Socialization is exposing them safely to different situations so they are comfortable with people, animals, noises, locations ....
Booties are good to protect the soft pads of your dog from cuts and irritation from salt on sidewalks and streets
Play & puppy training... You can do both. It just takes a few seconds while you play with your puppy. Here I'm with Bailey (a client) and while I toss a toy I also reinforce the "sit cue" which she knows. I say "good & follow with a treat". Make training fun.
For cat owners, remember cats do get 'bored'. I finally found a way to entertain our cat "Maddy", I hung one of her fav toys up high & has to jump to reach it. Clever....me.
