🚨Foster Homes needed!🚨

RRRI has been approached to take in three to five adult purebred female Ridgebacks in the Mid-Atlantic area (NY/NJ/PA), ranging in age from 4 to 8 years old. These girls have lived together peacefully and have also shared their home with a male Ridgeback without any issues. They are crate and house trained, and have occasionally been around a small child. While it’s been a few years, they previously lived with an outdoor cat.

The dogs are reportedly healthy, up to date on vaccines, and are described as curious and friendly with strangers. While they haven’t had much experience outside their home or on leash, their calm and collected demeanor suggests they’ll adjust well with time, patience and slowly exposing to the big wide world outside their yard. They’re also relaxed and well-behaved in the car.

We’re currently looking for foster homes, ideally ones that can keep two or more of them together, or that have a calm, stable resident dog who can help guide them as they transition to their new environments.

If you're in a position to foster, transport, or assist in any way, please reach out to [email protected].

Meet Abigail — big heart, bigger cuddles.

Are you looking for the ultimate snuggle buddy? Look no further, Abby is your gal! Abby is a 6-year-old sweetheart who lives for love and snuggles. She’s your perfect couch buddy and loyal companion. While she can manage on her own, she truly thrives with another dog around. Having a canine companion helps her feel secure and content when left alone.

Abby is making great progress with her leash manners and crate training. She enjoys daily walks, playing with her foster brother, car rides and soaking up all the attention she can get.

She gets along well with other dogs, especially big ones that are comfortable with her “Ridgeback-style” of play. Due to her size and enthusiasm, Abby may be a little overwhelming for young children so older, dog-savvy children would be a better fit. Although she lived with a cat in her youth, she has had no recent feline interactions.

While Abby is a little on the “fluffy” side, she’s down 17 pounds and continuing her glow up journey. Her bald patch (seasonal alopecia) has resolved itself with the use of daily melatonin and she will likely need to be started on melatonin again fall through winter to avoid the patchiness returning.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, slightly goofy companion, Abigail is eager to meet you!

For more information on Abby, please contact Sheri at [email protected] or fill out an Adoption Application at - https://www.ridgebackrescue.org/dogs/dog_bio.php?regioncode=ca&dognum=6145

Hi there! I’m Abigail 🐾, though my friends sometimes call me Abby (I don’t mind either way). I’m a sweet, affectionate girl 💕 with a heart as big as my waist (pun definitely intended! 🍩), and I’m six years young 🎂.

My ideal relationship? One where we’re always together 🤗, snuggles on the couch 🛋️, cozy bedtime cuddles 🐶💤, and me being your lovable little shadow around the house 👣. But if I’m being honest, I’m not that co-dependent. I’m okay hanging out on my own too… I just really love being near my people whenever I can 🥰.

I didn’t get to do much adventuring in my early years 🐾, but I’m all in for making up for lost time! Daily walks? You betcha🚶‍♀️🐕. Playdates with pups of all sizes? I’m down! 🐶 I’m currently working on my leash skills and crate training 📚, I aim to impress 💪.

I get along fabulously with other dogs 🐕 (especially the big ones 🦮), and I even lived peacefully with a cat once🐈... though I was just a wee one at the time. So… cohabitation is at your own risk 😼. But hey, a game of cat and mouse could be fun! 🎯

While I’m gentle at heart 💗, my zest for life and enthusiasm might be a bit much for tiny humans 👶. A home without small children is probably best, pretty sure they wouldn’t appreciate being the bowling pins to my bowling ball 🎳. STRIIIIKE!! Just kidding 😜. (Or am I? 😏)

Let’s be honest, I’m a bit of a softie 🧸, in more ways than one. I’m working on slimming down and have already lost 15 pounds (go me! 🎉). With love ❤️, playtime 🎾, and a few good walks a day 🌞, I’ll be in tip-top shape in no time 💃. Bonus points if you have any old Richard Simmons workout 🏋️ tapes 🎥, let’s sweat to the oldies together! 💦

Oh . . . and about that patch of baldness on my side? It’s growing back thanks to daily melatonin 🌙. Whew! That was so embarrassing to be seen like that in public 😳. I guess I’ll need to start back up again when the days get shorter 🍂. What can I say? Vanity is real, people 💁‍♀️.

So…do you have room in your heart 💞 (and your lap 🐾) for a devoted snugglebug? Maybe even a playful pup or two 🐾🐕 who wouldn’t mind a new sibling? If so, I think we could be a match made in heaven ✨.

🐶 ::sniff sniff:: Smells like... puppy breath! 🐾

A litter of 7 irresistibly adorable mix puppies rescued in the nick of time in Texas. 💔Sadly, their mom was nowhere to be found, but a Good Samaritan stepped in and contacted the local shelter to make sure these little ones got the care they needed and the chance to find loving forever homes. 🫶

🍀As luck would have it, one of RRRI’s Coordinators just happened to be in the area, despite being from the opposite side of the country! They quickly networked with coordinators outside of Texas to secure foster homes and even a few potential adopters. ⏱️ Just minutes, literally minutes, before the puppies were scheduled for euthanasia, everything came together and they were taken into rescue.

Now safe in loving foster homes in Illinois and Indiana, the pups are being vetted, treated for both routine and unexpected medical needs, and are already starting to reveal their sweet, playful personalities.

If you’ve ever raised a puppy, or seven, you know how quickly the costs can pile up. If you’d like to help support their care, you can make a donation here: https://bit.ly/RRRIdonate.

Interested in adopting one of these cuties?
Fill out an adoption application to start the process. ✏️ https://bit.ly/RRRI_Adopt
🚫Please note: the puppies WILL NOT be allowed to fly as cargo. ✈️
🏡 Approved adopters must pick them up in person. 🚗

Hiya! It’s Percy again, and I’ve got a bit of an identity crisis—but one thing I never question is if I’m loved or if I belong. Nope! Know why?! Because I had the BESTEST-EVER foster home with the most pawsome foster siblings. And guess what? This weekend, I’m trotting off to my forever home, which sounds like an adventure straight out of a tail-wagging fairytale!

My new family? Oh, they’re pawfect! I’ve got a human mom and dad, a grown-up brother and sister (not sure what “grown-up” means but I'm sure they'll still play with me, so it’s fine!), and a Ridgeback brother who I’m told they “failed” with—but like, in the happiest way possible? Humans are weird, but I’m into it.

They tell me we’ll be adventuring in the great outdoors, visiting fun places, and sometimes even roughing it in something called a “home on wheels”? Sounds totally bonkers, but I say: let the tail-waggin’ adventures begin!

Meet Zarandipity, a stunning 2-year-old purebred liver Ridgeback, located in Idaho, with the sweetest disposition!
While she didn’t get much socialization or exposure to the outside world before coming into rescue, this beautiful girl has quickly adapted to life in her foster home and is ready to find a loving family to call her own.
In the short time she’s been with RRRI, she has made amazing strides with her social skills and house manners. She’s housebroken and crate trained (though she’s only used to shorter spurts since her foster family is home a lot).
Clean, clever, and eager to learn, she is a total snuggle bug who loves being close to her people—whether that means cuddling right beside you or on top of you! She also loves outdoor adventures and staying active. Because of her past, she would do best in a home without young children (those little "aliens" are a bit intimidating for her).
She gets along great with other dogs and would love to share her home with another Ridgeback or similar-sized dog who can keep up with her playful and full-contact play style. She is still learning, so a family committed to continuing her training and exposing her to new experiences would be ideal.
Think Zarandipity could be the missing piece of your family puzzle?

Percy is ready to Choo, Choo his way into your heart and home!

This 8-month-old Ridgeback mix, who likely is Rhodesian Ridgeback and German Shepherd, is a bundle of sweetness and love. He believes that everyone should love him back—like, right now. He’s still figuring out the whole "personal space" concept and is working on controlling his excitement around friends. It's not that he's being rude; he just hasn’t learned how to pump the brakes when playtime goes from “awesome” to “enough already.”

Percy’s story includes a dramatic tale of him allegedly jumping off a train and breaking his left leg. But no worries—he’s fully healed and ready to roll! During his recovery, he spent a lot of time crated, and while it wasn’t his favorite thing, now that he’s off restrictions, he’s become quite vocal about his dislike of being crated when he knows his human is home. It’s more about FOMO than true separation anxiety—he’s perfectly fine when things are calm and he’s either chosen to go in the crate or placed there, even if it’s not his preference. But as soon as the fun starts, you’ll hear from him! He settles quickly in the crate once the humans have left the house. That said, he does still choose to nap in the crate when things are quiet, so it’s clearly not all bad.

Since Percy’s early training is a bit of a mystery, he’ll need some basic obedience work to help him become the fantastic ambassador for his breeds that we know he can be. Ready to help Percy become the best boy ever? Hop aboard the Percy Train—he’s waiting for you!

Percy is being fostered in the Greater Seattle area.

We have an update from Percy, he’s got lots to tell you about his last couple weeks, so without further ado…

Hey friends, Percy here! It's been a little while since we last caught up, so I wanted to give everyone an update. First, I gotta say a big thank you to all of you for the well wishes, healing vibes, and all the awesome goodies that keep showing up on my foster mom's doorstep. Seriously, every morning feels like a mix of Groundhog Day and Christmas Morning! My foster mom always tells me I'm a good boy, but this really proves it.
Now, let's talk about some highs and a low from the past couple of weeks.
The highs:
I didn’t jump off any more trains! Phew, that’s behind me.
I got the green light to lose my splint! I’m all healed up! But... they said I can’t start gladiator play with my foster brother yet. So rude, right?! Don’t they know I’m a puppy with energy to burn?! However, I am allowed short and slow strolls a few times a day. So I’ll take what I can get until WWE Smackdown can resume!
The low:
I had a little setback last week. Some pressure sores from the splint popped up, so I had to take a nap while they got cleaned up. But it’s not as bad as it sounds because guess what? After the Manuka honey goes on, I get to lick the spoon! YUM!
And do you know what all of this means? It means I’m getting closer to Choo Choo choosing my forever home! I can't wait for that train to leave the station and head toward my next adventure. Full steam ahead!

To donate toward Percy’s expenses, visit: https://bit.ly/RRRI_Donate. His expenses have exceeded $2,000 due to bandage changes, medications, and x-rays and the pressure sore debacle. 100% of donations go directly to his care. When donating, please note "In Honor of” Percy-6062. To donate by check, mail it to: RRRI, P.O. Box 4141, Leesburg, VA 20177. Write "Percy-6062" in the memo line. Donation letters will be sent for checks. Any excess donations will help other Ridgebacks in need! Thank you for being part of Percy’s journey!
