Today's deadline is 11:59pm EASTERN time. If you're in another time zone, please keep that in mind!
The final deadline for VMCAS is 11:59pm Eastern time on September 15th! You still have roughly 24 hours to apply.
Remember to give yourself plenty of time to complete the submission process! Depending on website traffic, it can take up to half an hour to finalize your submission and payment. VMCAS does not recommend beginning the process too close to the final deadline.

Top 3 reasons why an application is not eligible to be reviewed for admission:
# 3. Applicants do not log in to their application to check for updates and notifications.
- Even after an application is submitted, it’s important that all applicants log into their account occasionally to ensure they have not received notifications/ updates from their veterinary school designations or VMCAS. Per VMCAS policy, it is the applicants’ responsibility to monitor their application throughout the process. All applicants should log in occasionally to ensure there are no important updates/notifications that could affect their application review.
# 2. Application materials are not received by the deadline
- VMCAS has a hard deadline of 9/15/16. A hard deadline means that all required application materials must be received by the deadline date. No additional applications will be accepted after the deadline and applicants will no longer be able to submit any applications that are “In Progress”
- What are the required application materials for VMCAS?
- VMCAS application submitted and paid
- At least 3 recommendation letters are received
- All required transcripts are received
- All required test scores are received
The #1 reason why applications are not reviewed for admission…….
# 1. Undelivered Applications
Applications are most commonly undelivered due to an UNREPORTED INSTITUTION. This means that while reviewing your transcripts, our verification staff found that an additional institution was attended and the institution was not reported in the “Schools Attended” section of the application. When this happens, the application is undelivered in order to allow the applicant to add this information.
The problem with this scenario is that the applicant is also required to submit a transcript from this unreported institution, and if the application is verified any time after the 9/15/16 deadline (which is when more than 60% of applications are verified), there is no way for an application to become complete since the 9/15/16 VMCAS deadline is a hard deadline.
What can an applicant do to prevent this from happening?
Two important actions that all applicants should take:
1. Make sure to report ALL institutions attended. Even if only 1 or 2 courses are taken at another school and the credits are listed on the primary institution transcript, applicants are required to report and submit an official transcript from that institution. For exceptions due to study abroad and/or international coursework, please refer to the VMCAS instructions for additional information.
2. Submit the application and request official transcripts as early as possible. Applicants do not need to wait until all materials are received before submitting. Once all required fields of the online application are completed, applicants are welcome and encouraged to pay and submit.
The sooner an application can go through the verification process, the more time an applicant will have to correct the application in case it’s undelivered and/or ensure that additional transcripts are submitted (if necessary).
VMCAS STRONGLY recommends that all applicants are S.E.T. for verification no later than August 15th!
S.E.T. stands for:
Submission – Application is submitted and paid
Evaluations – At least 3 evaluators listed on application
Transcripts – All (U.S. and English Speaking Canadian) official transcripts received and posted
VMCAS will not accept late application materials

Hi all. We are working on new research on applicant-related issues at AAVMC. This year's post-VMCAS survey is slated to include a few new questions; these questions need to be beta tested. I hope that page followers might help us out by answering a few questions so that we can be sure that we are framing the questions appropriately on the upcoming survey. Participation has no bearing on your application status--this is simply a beta test for new questions. It only take a minute to answer the questions! Thank you in advance.
