Friends of Taika

Friends of Taika "Friends of Taika" was founded by 3 young children, and works to collect pet toys and treats to be distributed to people in need with dogs and cats.

"Friends of Taika" works to collect pet toys and treats to be distributed to people in need with dogs and cats. The idea behind this organization, and the day to day operations are completely run by our children. As their parents, we serve as advisers. "Friends of Taika" (named for our own pup) is currently working through the Sharing Locker to distribute the items. The Sharing Locker is a non-foo

d pantry that supports families in Kent and Washington counties in RI. The Sharing Locker provides families in need with essentials like soaps, paper products, and pet food (things that are not covered by SNAP but that are important to happy and healthy families). We can also accept monetary donations. Checks should be made payable to "Sharing Locker" with "Taika" written in the memo section. Checks can be mailed to: Westminster Unitarian Church, Attn: Sharing Locker, 119 Kenyon Ave, East Greenwich, RI 02818. The funds collected from this campaign will be dedicated to pet supply purchases to be distributed through the Sharing Locker. Hello to all of the "Friends of Taika!" Taika is taking a break from decorating for the holidays to remind you that we are in the middle of the 5th annual Pet Toy and Treat Drive!

All pet toys and treats collected through December 15th will be distributed to Sharing Locker clients at their December event.

Everyone needs a favorite toy! "Wilson" is Taika's favorite, and she carries it with her everywhere she goes. When you see a deal on pet toys this summer, think about grabbing an extra one for "Friends of Taika" and we will be sure to give it to a pet in need at our December event. Now get back out there...it's a great day to run through the sprinkler!

Are you looking for something to do over February Vacation? Come to the Warwick Public Library for their "We ♥ Animals Week: Help Our Furry Friends Day" on Tuesday, 2/16, at 2:30. Come for a Rescue Dog Read Aloud, then meet and greet Pedro, the Reading Therapy Dog, and hear his rescue story. Afterwards, make a pet toy to donate to "Friends of Taika." Thank you Warwick Public Library and Pedro, for being "Friends of Taika!"

We are a little late with our update, but we are pleased to share that OVER 200 FAMILIES received toys and treats for their pets at the December Sharing Locker opening, thanks to the "Friends of Taika." Thank you, thank you, thank you for donating and making a difference in the lives of so many pets!
