I have a few personal plants that have grown off of their moss poles and I just don’t feel like extending poles, duplicate plants, and some plants that just aren’t bringing me joy. I will post them in the comments throughout the day as I chop them or feel the desire to throw them away 🫠

Meet the new employees of Barely Oklahoma Botanicals:

🦁 Lacewing Larva
Also known as the aphid lion… and honestly? That nickname is earned. These little alligators of doom hunt soft-bodied pests like aphids, thrips, mealybugs, spider mites, and more. They don’t sip smoothies. They stab pests with sickle-shaped jaws and slurp them like Capri Suns. Absolute nightmare fuel for plant pests. 💀

Nature is metal sometimes. Tiny, adorable, pest-eating metal. 🪲💚

Do you use beneficial bugs? If so, what kind has been your favorite? I’d love to see pictures of your benes working! 🍽️

🌿 The one where I leave my plants alone for 10 days… and don’t panic about it 😌

We’re heading out of town soon, but the plant kids? Oh, they’ve been prepped like tiny green royalty.

Here’s how I’m setting them up for success while I’m gone:

🪴 Self-watering pots = hydration handled
Every plant is topped off and ready to sip as needed. No dramatic thirst meltdowns over here.

🧼 Fresh clean with my pest spray
Leaves wiped down, stems checked, drama eliminated. We’re not giving pests a single opening.

🪲 Beneficial mites have entered the chat
Just added a fresh batch of beneficial bugs from Nature’s Good Guys 👏
Think of them as tiny plant bodyguards patrolling for anything that dares to nibble.

💡 Grow lights on timers
Day/night cycles stay consistent, even when I’m not home. The plants don’t even realize I’ve left them 😏

☀️ Light + placement check
No plants baking in direct sun, no sad dark corners. Everyone is in their “thrive, not survive” spot.

💨 Airflow matters
Good circulation = less chance for pests and fungus to throw a house party while I’m gone.

✨ Real talk: you don’t need to overcomplicate it.
Hydration, prevention, lighting, and a little bug backup go a long way.

Your plants don’t need a babysitter… just a solid game plan.

This is why we scrub our plants, scrub our plants, scrub our plants 🎶

As you can see, I’ve used a pest spray mix on this leaf that has spider mites and you can still see the webbing with eggs. Why? They are ✨hydrophobic✨ aka water/neem/alcohol proof! They will stay on that plant no matter if you spray straight alcohol on there! You have to disrupt the egg in order for the bottom, where it attaches to the leaf, to be exposed. That’s the only side of the egg that is non-hydrophobic.

How I clean my leaves in a video in the comments 👇🏻
