Vincent Van Gogh AKA Bigfoot

Vincent Van Gogh AKA Bigfoot Cat I am a 13+ year old FIV+ boy that had lived on the streets of Roslindale, MA for 6 plus years. Mom thinks my original owner passed away and I lost my home.

I was loved at one point because I was neutered, had my left inner ear removed (expensive surgery and probably because of prior infections) and I know how to behave in the house. Mom started my page to allow my prior followers of Boston's Forgotten Felines to continue following me, to promote adoption of FIV+ kitties and promote adoptions of senior kitties.

Our world lost a very special woman yesterday. Joni Nelson was with Boston's Forgotten Felines where we adopted Vincent and now Lucy and Ethel. Joni was an amazing woman and would give everything she had to help a cat. So many cats lives were touched by Joni and so many of us in rescue were touched by Joni. I was an active volunteer with BFF until we moved to Western MA and help when I can. Please hug your loved ones, Friends and anyone special in your life. Make sure they know you love them and that they are appreciated. Joni was one heck of a person and I am blessed that Vincent brought Joni into our lives.

It is with profound sadness that we let you know that our founder, Joni Nelson, has passed away.

The world lost a true friend, a partner, an aunt, a cousin, a rescuer, a great story teller, and probably the best fur-mom any cat could ask for. For decades, Joni has been saving thousands upon thousands of cats. She even saved a dog or two in her time. Everyone has different beliefs of what happens after death, but all of us animal lovers hope that there truly is a Rainbow Bridge. And if there is no doubt that her two favorite ferals Cindy and Lulu were the first to meet her, but maybe Jojo knocked them out of the way so he could get her first snuggle.

As others have stated about Joni:
“…she was a light in so much darkness”
“…she was the best of us”
“We lost such an amazing person + friend. What a hole she leaves.”
“She would have given you the shirt off of her back for those she loved.”
“all the best souls are leaving this earth it seems”
“She was a fearless fighter for so many.”
“It's really hard to put into words how special a person Joni was.”

In the coming days we will share information with you about an upcoming Celebration of Life. Also, in her honor and her legacy, Boston’s Forgotten Felines will continue for the time being. We hope her friends and BFF followers will help us share our cats to find them the best of homes as that would be the greatest gift to Joni.

Ethel is very good at this when it comes to eating. I have never had a cat that is so darn picky! The other 3 eat whatever is given them and Ethel would rather starve - they all get the same canned food. I might have helped this by putting toppers on food when she won’t eat. If a cat doesn’t eat they can get fatty liver disease which can not be reversed. So to keep her healthy I enabled her food snobbing!🤪 Of course she only eats for me and not my husband. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️The others come running when they hear me open bags of food toppers and then look at me like where is ours? Good thing they don’t make the connection of food toppers and snuffing food!!!

Felicia is back home to us. The urn is so much bigger and nicer than I ever thought it would be. It is made out of resin and 8” long. I am so glad we chose this one and definitely fits our queen.

Thank you Chewy for the flowers and kind words about Felicia. I didn’t expect them and they are so pretty.

This afternoon we helped Felicia cross over to The Rainbow Bridge. We adopted Felicia in August of 2018 when she turned 12. It was a long year to integrate Felicia into our home and she quickly became Queen of our house. Felicia was 19 1/2 this month and Final Stage of Kidney Failure was the culprit. We have been doing supportive care for the last 8 months with lots of ups and downs. I will never regret any of the care given to Felicia and I would do anything to keep her comfortable. She enjoyed the sun this afternoon (first photo on the sunflower blanket) and I am sure it felt wonderful! Then Stinky decided to allow Felicia to lay with him and clean her. Felicia was full of spice and was a complete love. All of our cats would bow down to the Queen when she walked into the room and give her plenty of space to walk by. ❤️❤️❤️ Rest in Peace little lady and we will miss you so much. Felicia you had the smallest feet of any cat I have ever seen! Thank you to all the amazing staff at VCA Montgomery Road Animal Hospital for your amazing care of Felicia and for helping her pass peacefully.

We are so thankful to have you in our home and you have both blossomed into amazing kitties. Thank you Boston's Forgotten Felines, Lynne Gramer and Joni Nelson (it won’t let me tag you). ❤️❤️❤️

Start off the New Year right! Boston's Forgotten Felines auction is up and items can be shipped. But even better our Lucy and Ethel donated some kitty items and see item #7. This was all of our way of giving back to BFF for saving the girls and so many other kitties. BFF also fed and cared for Vincent before he came to our home. Thank you BFF!

This is a huge milestone in this house. As you know Felicia has not been super happy to have brothers and sisters. Well this week I found her sleeping right next to Stinky and Ethel! Ethel actually would stretch and put her feet on Felicia!! 😮 No fights, no growling and we are coexisting. Ethel has been trying hard to make friends with Felicia. I believe in both instances Felicia joined her brother and sister. ❤️❤️❤️
