One of the things that means the most to me about what I do is that it doesn’t end when the puppies leave my home.

While I do breed Labradors, I also work full-time as a licensed veterinary technician, which gives me the unique opportunity to continue caring for and checking in on my puppies as they grow. This past week was extra special—5 out of the 6 puppies from Loretta’s last litter came into the clinic for their vet checks, which made for a really fun and full week.

This handsome guy is Blu, our chocolate male, now about 11 weeks old and already weighing in at 30 pounds. He’s growing exactly how I’d hope—healthy, strong, and well-loved.

It’s never just about raising puppies—it’s about raising well-bred, socialized dogs, and staying connected, watching them grow, and seeing them become such an important part of their new families 🤍

Week 8 🐾

The most busy and bittersweet week has come and gone. Eight weeks go by in the blink of an eye. From tiny newborns to confident, adventurous little personalities — it’s incredible to watch the transformation.

This one feels especially emotional. Loretta is where Glade Creek Labradors began. She and Stoney from Mistywoods Labradors started this line and laid the foundation for everything this program stands for. Watching her raise her final litter is truly bittersweet.

Seeing these beautiful puppies with their new families is what it’s all about. There’s always a lump in the throat when they leave, handing over something so important, but so much comfort in knowing they’re going to homes where they’ll be deeply loved and cared for.

Loretta is transitioning well and even made it back out on the trail yesterday.

It’s the end of an era in many ways… but also the beginning of the next chapter. Excited to see if Jolene follows in her mama’s footsteps one day to give glade creek more beautiful puppies.

Thank you, Loretta, for being such an incredible mother and such an important part of my life.

And thank you to the Glade Creek Labradors families for choosing one of my puppies to add to your homes. I truly couldn’t ask for better families for them. 🤍

✨ 7 Weeks Old ✨

The puppies are 7 weeks old today, and we have just one final week together before they head off to their new families. It’s a bittersweet time here at Glade Creek Labradors.

These little ones are adventurous, vocal, and full of curiosity. They love to explore every corner they can find, wrestle with each other, and then crash hard for the sweetest snuggles. They are more than happy to be held and cuddled — which will be especially fun for their families once they’re older and a little heavier than they are now 😅

Loretta has officially weaned them and is enjoying a well-deserved break. And in the sweetest turn of events, big sister Jolene has stepped in to cuddle them and treat them like her own. Watching her nurture and interact with this litter has been special — and a pretty good sign she may be an excellent momma one day.

Soaking up these last quiet (and not-so-quiet) days with the sweetest little ones. 🐾

✨ Six Weeks Old Today ✨

I can hardly believe these babies are already six weeks old. In just two short weeks, they’ll begin heading to their new homes.

This stage is always one of my favorites — and the busiest. The puppies are full of personality, constantly wrestling, exploring, and proudly parading around with their toys. They are curious, confident, and completely obsessed with their big sister Jolene. She loves playing with them, and they think she is the greatest thing they’ve ever seen.

Around-the-clock care has truly become my second full-time job, but it’s a labor of love. Loretta is in the final stages of weaning and is nursing just once a day now. The puppies are primarily eating kibble and packing on weight like crazy — thick, healthy, well-bred little Labradors growing right before my eyes.

This season is as rewarding as it is demanding. Knowing this is Loretta’s final litter makes it even more meaningful to me. I’m soaking up these last few weeks and cherishing every moment before they begin their next chapter with their families.

This video shows Loretta’s puppies resting and playing while a Bluetooth speaker nearby plays thunderstorm sounds. This is just one of the many ways we intentionally expose our puppies to everyday sights, sounds, and experiences while they’re with us.

In the mornings, we often rotate in traffic and city noises as well. Early, gentle exposure during a puppy’s socialization period helps build confidence and resilience as they grow.

Many fears we see in older puppies and adult dogs—such as anxiety around storms or loud noises—aren’t the result of trauma or abuse, but simply a lack of early exposure. When something is new later in life, it can feel scary, and that’s completely fair from a dog’s perspective.

At Glade Creek Labradors, we believe a healthy respect for the world isn’t a bad thing—it helps puppies stay smart and safe. But we also believe that thoughtfully setting them up for success during these early weeks is what helps create healthy, well-bred, confident, and well-rounded family dogs — and that’s what it’s all about for us. 🐾⛈️

✨ Five Weeks Old Today ✨

These pups are officially five weeks old and full of energy. Their days are spent wrestling, playing, and keeping each other entertained from sunup to sundown. They’re especially obsessed with their big sister Jolene (from Loretta’s last litter) and are constantly trying to engage her in play through the panels.

They’ve entered the teething phase and have successfully transitioned from gruel to wet kibble—chunky little bodies and growing appetites included. Their ball pit is a favorite hangout, and they’ve also discovered their voices, complete with some impressive howling at mealtime.
It’s amazing to watch their personalities really begin to shine at this stage. The fun (and noise) has definitely begun.

🐾 4 Weeks Old & Full of Personality! 🐾

These pups are officially on the move! At four weeks old, they’re mobile, running, playing with each other, and exploring toys—and teething has officially begun.
They’ve started eating gruel (a mix of formula, kibble, and warm water) and make sure to loudly remind me when it’s feeding time with their barks and howls.

Big sister Jolene is more than ready to join the fun, and the puppies love trying to get as close to her as they can through the panels. Loretta has begun the weaning process, and it’s hard to believe we’re already just four weeks away from these babies heading to their new homes.

So incredibly proud of this litter and soaking up every moment—the fun, the mess, and the memories—of Loretta’s last litter.

Our puppies are officially three weeks old, and the changes happening each day are incredible.
Eyes wide open, little legs finding their rhythm, and playful moments popping up more and more. They’ve even started recognizing my voice and making their way over to say hello—an early sign of the strong human connection we love to see.
Busy, happy days ahead 🐾

Puppies are two weeks old today, and time is flying by! Their eyes are starting to open, and they’ve officially figured out how to walk instead of crawl. Loretta is doing an excellent job keeping everyone fat and sassy. The coming weeks are sure to get a whole lot more active around here! 🐾
