🐍✨ Meet Simon! ✨🐍
Say hello to one of our most stunning snakes here at Riverside Reptiles and Rats—Simon the ball python!

Simon is a Black Pastel Pied Mojave—a gorgeous combination of genes that gives him that one-of-a-kind look. With his creamy white patches, bold black markings, and velvety hues, he’s truly a showstopper. 😍

Though he’s a little shy by nature, Simon is calm, curious, and gentle. He enjoys lounging in his hide and coming out at night to explore (or to look for his favorite snack—our humanely raised African Soft Fur rats, which he gets once a week).

Simon isn’t just a pretty face—he’s the future cornerstone of our pied ball python breeding program. We can’t wait to see the gorgeous babies he’ll help produce in the seasons to come!

well snake food, we really enjoy raising them up, and watching them grow! Here are some fun tidbits of information!

🐭✨ Fun Facts About African Soft Fur Rats! ✨🐭

Thinking about adding some African Soft Fur Rats (ASFs) to your life or just curious about these little cuties? Here are some fun facts you might not know!

🌍 Native to Africa
These rats are originally from central Africa and are well adapted to warm, dry climates.

🧸 Soft Like Velvet
Their name says it all! ASFs have incredibly soft, dense fur—way softer than regular rats. They’re basically tiny plush toys come to life!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Live in Colonies
ASFs are social animals and do best living in colonies. They thrive with company and establish a clear hierarchy within their group.

👶 Mamas Are Dedicated
ASF moms are excellent caretakers! They often raise their young communally with help from other females in the colony.

🔇 Quiet Roommates
Unlike other rodents, ASFs are super quiet—no loud squeaking or wheel-running at night!

🚫 Hard to Tame, But Fascinating to Watch
They’re not typically kept as pets for handling, but they’re amazing to observe in a naturalistic setup.

💡 Fun Fact: They Can Jump!
These little guys are incredible jumpers—don’t underestimate how high they can go if there’s no lid on that tub! 😄
