The Calm & The Chaos Dog Training

The Calm & The Chaos Dog Training I help families bring calm, structure, and confidence into their dog’s daily life.

My training blends clear rules, leadership, and simple routines that make life easier for both dogs and their humans.

TOP 3 RULES OF THUMB FOR THRESHOLD WORK

1. Allowed to Look, Not React
A dog can look at the trigger — cat, dog, person, but must stay under threshold.
If the dog stares hard, tenses, vocalizes, or loads up, they’re over threshold.Your job: mark and reward calm glances + disengagement.

2. If They React → Add Distance
Reactivity means the dog is too close.
Don’t correct it, don’t push through it, increase distance immediately.
Move back until the dog can think, breathe, and respond again.
Distance is the #1 tool for success.

3. Gradually Close the Gap Over TimeOnce the dog is calm at one distance, take one small step closer.
Reward calm behavior at every stage.
If the dog escalates, go back to the last successful distance.
WORDS OF ADVICE...Fix it now — not later — take the few minutes..thats how change starts.

Cooper feels very strongly about bathroom etiquette and privacy as
He chose this position himself, even though he looks like he’s questioning all his life choices. Fun fact: Many dogs, when they feel bonded and secure, naturally show “respectful” behavior in public spaces. For example like choosing a calm position, waiting patiently, or staying close without crowding. Training helps, but a lot of it comes from instinct and trust.
