We are often contacted about medium to large senior dogs sitting in shelters… scared, confused, and running out of time. 💔

The hardest part?
We can’t say yes without an available foster home.

Fostering is opening your home temporarily to a dog in need. The rescue covers vet care, medications, and supplies — you provide the safe place, the love, and the stability they deserve while they wait for their forever home. It can be a few weeks or a few months, depending on the dog.

You are not committing forever.
You are committing to giving them a chance.

💔🐾 Unexpected Vet Visit for Nova Jane 🐾💔

Yesterday our sweet girl Nova Jane had to undergo an unexpected procedure. She developed an ear hematoma, which is when blood collects inside the ear flap — usually caused by head shaking or scratching due to irritation or infection. If left untreated, it can be painful and may cause permanent damage to the ear.

The vet was able to drain the hematoma and place a small drain that will stay in for about 3 weeks to allow it to heal properly and prevent it from filling back up. Nova Jane is a trooper (even with her cone of shame 💗) and is resting comfortably now.

Unfortunately, this surprise procedure came with a bill of $302.78. As a senior rescue, these unexpected medical needs happen often — and we rely on our amazing Silver Snout family to help us continue providing the care these sweet seniors deserve.

🎉 Milo Update! 🎉

Our handsome, goofy, sugar-sweet Milo had a vet visit yesterday and we are so proud of this little guy! He’s already making amazing progress with his blood sugar. Our vet tweaked his insulin a bit more and feels very confident that with the right diet, regular exercise, and proper insulin dosing, Milo will be able to keep everything well-controlled. 💙💉

And now for the BEST news of the day…
🏡 Milo has found his furever home!! 🏡

His wonderful foster family—who already has experience caring for dogs with diabetes—is officially adopting him as soon as our vet gives the final all-clear. Milo will head to his new home today, and he is absolutely beaming with pride.

✨ Leah Update! ✨

Today was a big day for our sweet girl. Dr. Janet stopped by the rescue center and began some much-needed physical therapy with Leah — and she did amazing!

Leah enjoyed her red light therapy session (and rocked her protective goggles in the process 😎). Dr. Janet is not only a licensed physical therapist but also a Certified Canine Rehab Practitioner, and we are so blessed to have her as part of the Silver Snout team. Her gentle care and expert hands are already making a difference for Leah’s healing journey.

This girl has been through so much, but she continues to show us just how strong and resilient she is. 💛🐾

This handsome little fluff came to us with a brand-new diabetes diagnosis. His previous family shared that he was having frequent accidents and peeing all over the house. But look at him now! In just one week, with a few diet adjustments and some careful insulin tweaking, Milo is very proud to announce…

✨ Leah & Randy-Patrick Update ✨
At Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue, we truly believe in the power of prayer — and today, we felt it. ❤️‍🩹🙏

Sweet Leah saw our vet today, and to be honest, we initially weren’t sure if rehabilitation was going to be possible for her. But thanks to your prayers and all the love surrounding her, we received a glimmer of hope!

💛 Her X-rays showed no broken or dislocated bones in her front leg.
💛 Her eyes and skin should heal well with antibiotics.
💛 Once she’s a bit more stable, we will move forward with removing her mass.
💛 She came home with plenty of pain meds to help keep her comfortable.

We are encouraged and so ready to watch this girl feel like herself again. Your prayers made a difference — please keep them coming. 🐾

And while we’re talking about prayer, we do have another request…

Please pray for our boy Randy-Patrick. His skin flared up even worse, and our vet is now concerned it may be a type of cancer. Samples were taken and sent out for biopsy, and we hope to have answers next week.

In the meantime, he is being loved on, cuddled, held, and absolutely spoiled by our team of volunteers. No matter what the diagnosis brings, he’s not facing any of this alone. 🤍

UPDATE ON YVONNE 💛✨

Our sweet Yvonne had her much-needed dental surgery yesterday, and to say the anesthesia hit her good would be an understatement. 😅 This tiny girl was out cold and finally able to rest without the constant pain she’s been living with.

The vet removed all but 7 teeth, and although that sounds scary, this is exactly what she needed to begin truly healing. She’s resting comfortably today, snoozing the day away, and already looking more relaxed.

The next phase of her journey?
✔️ Putting on weight
✔️ Building much-needed muscle
✔️ Finally living pain-free and comfortable
✔️ Thriving the way she deserves

Meet our newest Silver Snout, Milo — an adorable 8-year-old Pomeranian who was recently diagnosed with diabetes. 💛

Despite everything he’s going through, Milo is still the life of the party. He loves attention, loves people, and has already made it clear that belly rubs are his love language.

This week, Milo will be visiting our vet so we can begin his journey toward a healthier life. With proper diabetes management, a strict diet, and safe weight loss, we know this little guy will be feeling so much better soon. Once his levels are regulated and he’s stable, Milo will be ready for adoption into a loving forever home.

🐾 STRAY HOLD NOTICE 🐾

We want to keep our community in the loop about a sweet senior girl who was found as a stray and is now safe in our care. 💕

Animal Control has been notified, and she will remain with us for her 5-day stray hold as required. In the meantime, she is warm, fed, and surrounded by love — a BIG thank-you to the amazing volunteers who brought her to the rescue center, scanned her for a microchip, and gently bathed every last flea away. 🛁✨

She has spent the last two nights tucked in safely in her foster home, getting the rest and comfort she desperately needed. 🐶🧡

If her owner does not come forward after the 5-day hold, she will officially become a Silver Snout dog, receive full veterinary care, and—fingers crossed—become available for adoption so she can start her next chapter.

At Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue, there is nothing more rewarding than watching a dog’s true personality peek through once they’re finally safe, seen, and cared for. 💛

Randy-Patrick and Yvonne both spent time with our groomer and our vet this week, and the transformation has already begun. Both pups have been started on pain medication, and it’s incredible what a little comfort can do.

Sweet Yvonne has some of the worst teeth our team has ever seen. It’s no wonder this tiny girl is skin and bones—every time she tries to take a bite of food, she winces in pain and it falls from her mouth. 💔 Her bloodwork will be back tomorrow, and we’re praying she’s healthy enough for the dental surgery she desperately needs.

Randy-Patrick is battling a severe skin infection. He’s now on antibiotics and will need baths every 2–3 days with prescription shampoo to help soothe and heal his fragile skin. Even so, his little tail still tries its best to wag.

These two are resilient, gentle souls who have endured far more than any animal ever should… yet all they want is love. And now, they’re finally getting it. ❤️

Thank you for being part of their healing. Our seniors deserve the world—and together, we’re giving it to them.
